Marriage to Joséphine de Beauharnais did little to quell Napoleon's vaulting ambition. Now he had the opportunity to display his military talents, which he showed to full effect during the stunning first Italian campaign - a campaign that saw him win the respect of his officers and gain the love of his men, merely by ensuring that, for the first time in years, they were paid properly.

Napoleon wasn't a nobody. He was part of the French lower nobility expats who were living in Corsica, Siciliy, Sardinia, and Malta. As such, Napoleon did have a life start at having good opportunities for upward mobility. Didn't say that he was a commoner and dirt poor - and not saying a silver or a golden spoon upbringing - but that there were some connections and networking that were done to get him onto a greater opporunity away from Corsica.

Napoleon's Fear of Cats:
Behind Napoleon's strong and authoritative image lay an unusual fear—he was afraid of cats. Legend has it that he suffered from ailurophobia, the fear of felines. It is said that Napoleon believed that cats brought him bad luck, and he often avoided them whenever possible. It's a peculiar quirk that contrasts with his otherwise fearless and ambitious nature.

No sir, price controls never work, all they do is create shortages because you're forcing people to sell at values that are below the amount it took to produce it - so no one is going to produce them.
Those initial high prices, though painful, reflect the shortage of said item and incentivises other people to produce them so they can cash in, which brings the price down as the supply increases to meet the demand.

About time you added Napoleon to your list. Much over due, I wonder why though, greatest military strategist ever lived, but campington aka Wellington is on your channel who would of lost Waterloo if the Prussians didn’t show up just in time to save him.

Ha! With such perfect and crystal clear 20x20 hindsight vision That little speech from Ole boney at 8:43 sure should have been borrowed by Washington a few years earlier when he was addressing his assembled veterans... sheesh after Arnold and all the division in the back country it seems like we missed a learning experience. Wether you like him or not, he is a loud and proud part of history..
You know he is disgusted and literally probably burning in the grave when you see what beautiful France has become today... course we know that all to well on this side the big pond too

2:30 "The French have moblilised an enormous number of men....almost certainly the largest army that Europe has seen since the Roman Empire".
I am sure he doesn't include the continuation of the Empire in Constantinople.
