Startup is literally trying to reinvent the wheel

An Israeli startup is trying to redesign and reinvent the wheel by changing the suspension arms. The company hopes to use it in wheelchairs, bicycles and cars.

Unsprung mass is much lower this way, so the abilities of wheel to follow uneven road surface is better but the abilities of wheel to transmit accelerating and breaking power is lower . That is why it limits to wheel chairs and bicycles applications . Wheel rotating mass increase this way since the shock absorbers and springs must rotate with the rim and the hub together, this slower down the acceleration of the vehicle since bringing heavier flywheel to the same speed ( RPM) with the same power available takes longer time .
Another cons is that the rim itself must to be made stronger ( because the spokes support points are reduced ) this way, you can notice how deep it is in the video so this lead to increase of its mass and cost .

I remember this invention a few years ago on YouTube haven't heard from them since, guess they are moving to the bikes finally... hope they can keep the weight down for road bikes one day

The issue is this is only usable at slower speeds and not for high speeds, you can put this in a fast car wheel but the safety is compromised and it will add a lot of extra unsprung weight which will affect handling a lot. Its usable on slower low speed bikes like city commuters but even for mountain biking you need a lot of speed and this system will just slow you down even if the ride is more comfortable. So imo they are spreading themselves too thin, they should instead be manufacturing more city commuting vehicles and working on ebikes and the like where you dont need the speed so much at all times.

That's not what they're trying to do. The wheel is basically the exact same the spokes/hub are just different.

Oh I have a flat tire again...looks like I have to replace my tire AND shocks and springs = FAIL TARDS.

No savings in cost from simply keeping the shocks and springs bolted to the frame = FAIL TARDS
