You hit the nail on the head with Tana French. Excellent prose, but very literary for a 'mystery'. That said 'The Secret Place' and 'The Likeness' I thought were good mysteries as well. I'm listening to Wolf Hall on audio right now and that was a good decision. I couldn't get into the text, but the guy who reads it played Cromwell in the Broadway production. I'm finding his delivery to be solid.

I let Casual Vacancy go too, I enjoyed it but when the runs are so huge, there is no need to keep them unlessyou want to read again.

Ahh! Love unhauls! I also really like that you add footage of you actually dropping them off. Really brings it all full circle, I feel like I don’t see many booktubers do that

Love the bookshop where it looks like you got that copy of Golden Son. I go there all the time, great selection and they pay decent when buying your books.
McKay's Used Books for the win!

oh my gosh you shop at McKay's!! Too cool!!!

My personal “goal” is to read the Thomas Cromwell trilogy by the end of the year. 😬 I am not a tome reader, so maybe just Wolf Hall. LOL I loved the mini-series.

Even a mediocre book by Tana French is fascinating. I also was disappointed with this book but couldn't stop reading it. In my opinion it's not only her fabulous prose and writing style but for observations and humor. Her characterizations are so spot-on, I find myself repeating the characters Irish lilt. I'm so looking forward to her newest book and thinking of pre-ordering for the first time in my life

I’m getting ready to move so have been unhauling books and other household goods, unfortunately everyone seems to have spent lockdown spring cleaning as all the charity shops near me are overflowing and it’s hard to get rid of things

Very jealous of your “new to you” Everyman’s Library red spine! Nice score!

Yeah, our neighborhood book box is full, too, so I think I'm going to be doing a lot of postal releases for a while. Ah, well, gotta show the USPS some love anyway.

I think you'll like The Talented Mr Ripley. It's an amazing character study and Highsmith knows how to build tension.

I had the same experience while reading The Witch Elm. I wanted to keep reading it while knowing that it wasn’t particularly good.

i am somewhat relieved normal people did not jive for you! i feel like the hype is so big with that. i loved atonement but feel so lukewarm towards ian mcewan. i read a bunch of books that were two or three star reads right now which sucks for the first half of the month! the patricia highsmith bind up is so pretty. <3

I really love all the different links you put in the description. They're like little presents!! I got introduced to so many new creators in the costuming community because of it, so thank you <3

I have yet to read Normal People as it was one of my BOTM picks a long time ago. Reviews are mixed, so I am not sure how I will vibe with that.

Good picks from the used book store. Enjoy your weekend! 😊

The Knox McKay’s is doing drive through trade drop offs, but I haven’t tried it myself. It’s way better than those huge lines they normally have though!

I lately prefer ebooks/audiobooks to physical books because now and then you have physical books you don't want to keep and you have to take them somewhere to unclutter your shelves, unwanted books are yet another clutter that I would rather not have.

there a consensus on whether an unhaul is for read books or unread books? I assumed unread, since processing read ones, whether on Favorites shelf or to thrift store, seems The Way Of All Things. :D

I think they only books you unhauled that I liked were This is How you Lose the Time War and the Red Rising book but I totally get your logic for both of those. I had to do an unhual recently cause I am moving and unfortunately I don’t have a good used book store situation around me so I just gave them to Goodwill
