Follow this easy recipe to make PUFFED RICE without oil, using traditional Asian method of cooking.

1/2 cup of parboiled rice
2 tablespoons of water
1 cup of salt

I'm curious, , can I reuse the salt for salting foods later or should I throw it out ?

Hey I tried this method 2 times and it just comes out as salty snacks instead of neutral puffed rice... What am I doing wrong? I do make my own parboiled rice (5min in boiling water, then rince) and dried it out as much as i could without the rice burning in my pan, then puffed them in salt. They do puff, but they are salt bombs, , even after i shake profusely to get most of it off

Hi, good work. Please, can you explain if the first step where you add few tablespoons of water to the rice and dry in the skillet is what you meant by paboil rice?
