This is an underrated video. I searched everywhere how to do this, and this is the only video I found which was in details that I could understand.

You can use salt instead of sand to get the same result. Just heat the salt and puff the rice a little (like 2 spoon fulls at a time). sieve the puffed rice latter to remove the salt.

I am from rural eastern India and rice crispies is my staple food. When I am staying abroad I long for this. After watching this video I plan to attempt it in my kitchen. Hats off to you for bringing in a modern way of making it.

By the way, oil fried puff rice made from dehydrated cooked rice is very yummy! Cook any rice with less water so that the cooked rice don't become too sticky. The dryer the better. Dry the cooked rice in the Sun or Oven or Dehydrator. Add salt/pink salt/ black salt any, and black pepper powder in the fried puff rice and mix. Very yummy.

Fantastic video! All you got to do is (the last step) heat up lots of salt in a wok, then add roasted rice. Keep stirring for good 2-3 minutes. You'll see rice Pop. Strain the roasted rice, let it cool down and pour in a container. Trust me after you roast rice the salt won't make your rice too salty. Happy Cooking 😊

Thanks for the video. The tolerance in your responses to the troll comments show that you're a better man than me!

Instead u frying them in oil, first u cook them fully and then sun Dray them all grain must be saperated then again cook them in real hot salt and strained them in large strainer you might see the good result.

I'm guessing the first step was sugar water or simple syrup to coat them lightly for the slightly sweet taste.

Its wow... This video ended my searching. Now I can do my crispy rice on my own. I'll put some chocolate ganache and mix well... It's yummy..

I’m not sure about this but I think you were right with the water in the beginning, cause by example popcorn pops because of the humidity (grains that don’t pop probably didn’t pop cause there wasn’t enough moisture content) when it gets hot the water wants to escape so it pops. Maybe that’s why the rice needed water to pop

Love this - didn’t wanna do the sand part; you actually created “parboiled “ rice with the initial soaking

I was once on a work telephone to my partner talking about making a curry with some friends and I said we better get some rice in,
So the company that I was working for assumed I was talking about Ricin and I had the poison squad knocking my door down a week later lol.

They grind it to a paste then toast it and form the lil rice well how the cereal was explained. Is this soft enough to eat?

Shout out to anyone listening!! The practically perfect way to make home made rice Krispies is to heat the oil (I use coconut) to medium hi, or #7.5 in a medium size pot, then add only a cup of rice at a time for even cooking. Strain through a metal seive into a metal bowl or other pot. Spread the puffed rice out on a baking sheet on parchment paper and put in a warm oven at medium low about 175°. !!! NOW THE SECRET !!! USE Minute Rice! Minute rice is pre cooked and pre dried, so all you have to do is fry it 😁 Enjoy.
