Rory McIlroy has urged the PGA Tour to expedite its negotiations with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia or risk losing out on the sovereign wealth fund’s investment altogether. I see this as another warning from Rory to the PGA tour & Jay Monahan as i feel we are reaching a critical point in the PGA Tour, LIV golf & PIF negations for the future of golf. What is happening with the PGA tour? Has there been an agreement between the PGA tout and LIV golf? What is the latest golf news?

I hope PIF does make a deal with the DP World tour. Let LIV players play all they want there and that tour is relevant again overnight. The DP has tried the PGA bootlicker path and it’s not working out for them

As a scratch golfer who started playing in my twenties (now 63) I could give a flying fart what these spoiled brats want. Put up their own money, then we will bet on it if we want. I don’t care which tour exists! O.B Keller was correct when he said, “Money will ruin sports” and he was spot on. Know body just plays for the love of competition anymore. Too Much Money!!! Now we end up with cheating (P. Reed) because a stroke or two is tens or hundreds of thousands of Dollars/Euros! I barely watch anymore. Golf channel is a joke, as it is so rah, rah USA!

LIV and DP world tour would definitely be a good fit it works for both on different levels

Speed up talks, why, who gains from a merger/agreement! Not Liv, they are sailing their own course. For me the only issues with all of this is qualification to the majors. Funny, how we are talking mergers because the PGA want their full fields back, but they Banned the Liv guys from playing.

As a golf fan both playing and watching for many years I now find myself switching off. The constant theme is centred on money, and I just do not want to base my viewing on how much a player may win.

If it’s about money and always is, LIV is in the driver seat here. They can ride this out indefinitely. The PGAT has not been the same quality since the split and burning all their cash to keep up with LIV to keep their remaining stars happy can’t go on for ever. They need to cut a deal yesterday.

Revive "WGC"(World Golf Championship) events. 4 or 6 or 8 events a year. PGA Tour/DP World Tour vs LIV. Big money tournaments. Forget a merger. Too many obstacles. Don't need it anyways. And don't forget the US government has their hands in the merger negotiations. That's never good. Add in the majors, that's up to a dozen events a year. Fans would love it, players would love it, TV would love it, everyone wins

how is Jay Monahan still in a job? This should have been sorted 12 months ago. LIV aint going away. Just sort it out for the fans.

I love the game of golf. It’s a sport that will be for the rest of my life. It ends there. I have a personal relationship with the game and it’s fun to play with my friends or by myself.
Unfortunately, massive money ruins everything. At this point, I could care less about the pros and their money issues. I’d continue to play and enjoy golf without the pros. They can have their money and all the issues associated with it. It doesn’t affect me. It doesn’t change my personal relationship with the game. They can all disappear tomorrow and I wouldn’t miss them. They can swim in their piles of money amongst themselves.

If rory gets it everyone should. He sure does make sense, the same sense people have been saying from the beginning.
It is a very simple solution. Get over the punishments and let them Come back.
Also allow players to go. Work together on a schedule that works for everyone and creates more opportunities than ever for the players.
And more variety for the fans while also seeing top guys together more than ever on both tours.
The potential is clearly there.

Money money money... its not even about the sport or the fans anymore.

REMOVE JAY. I believe he is the problem.
Blokes made too much money off a non profit business. His holding onto it like its his retirement fund.

The PGA Tour is not going to come to a meaningful agreement with LIV for two primary reasons:Jay Monahan and Tiger Woods. Monahan is not going to give up power to anyone willingly and Tiger doesn’t compromise with anyone. The other power brokers (the USGA, R&A, PGA of America, Augusta National, and the CEO of the DP World Tour) are in the PGAT’s camp presently. However, if they become frustrated with Monahan which is possible, Monahan could be left on an island. Much depends on how much money the PIF is willing to invest to force a merger. The fact that American investors invested $2.2B in the tour gives them leverage for some time. But sponsors are rightfully concerned and that money will only last so long with the tour doling it out by the tens of millions. So it remains to be seen just how long the PIF is willing to “negotiate” with Monahan before they go in a different direction and leave the PGA Tour on their own. Pressure from the other power brokers could force Monahan to come to an agreement.

I don’t have a problem with LIV. If I were a player on the Tour, I wouldn’t go to LIV, but I haven’t watched an event; it’s not something I want to watch. In fact, I only watch the majors, Fed Ex, the Players, Ryder Cup, President Cup and maybe a few other events, if I’m not playing golf myself. There is far too much good golf, just on the PGA Tour and there is only so many hours in a day. I have other things I have to do. 🤷‍♂️

All you have solved in your suggestion is the scheduling. Nothing about 24 other tours who meet requirements for ranking points. Have to solve the points issue.

And don't forget that most if not all those initial contracts are over or just about done, the TV contract with CW Network collapsed and looks like it just might be John Rahm vs ??? Yeah, The waiting game has done just fine and LIV NEEDS the PGA, and with The Season we've just witnessed The PGA doesn't need LIV, and now they want to start the silly season next year with team golf and other ideas???? Most PGA Pro's that are in the Top 50-75 want that time off, and besides has anyone heard of The NFL and even College Football, that's their Prime Time....Bye Bye LIV and Greggy

Its not going to happen. A merger taking this long to decide talking points is just an illusion. The PGA Tour has no leverage. The Stars are diluted and the fans want to see the stars play against each other and only the 4 Majors offer that feature.

I think liv and the DP tour, would make a good marriage. One supporting the other. One individual and the other, team play. Let the pga tour do their own thing in the USA. The liv tour and the DP tour are both world wide tours.

Extending the season would be STUPID. Players are telling you they need down time. And the LIV money is great for the players, but except for Bryson, every single LIV player is worse now than when they were in the PGA. They will have no golf legacy. The whole thing is a giant cluster
