This may seem obvious or useless but it’s actually excellent advice. I almost gave the game up because I kept hitting 50 yard hooks into the ground. Turned out I was taking the club back way inside on the backswing. Took lessons and this was the main teaching point.

That one hit he showed us is likely better than the thousands I’ve attempted over the years. Makes it look so simple and effortless. Love watching him play.

They can have quick episodes like this of him tying his shoes and I'm gonna watch and so will you.

Love this. I've been watching Porzak Golf lately because they explained the "club in front" in a way that made something click for me. Specifically, the results of doing the 10 and 10 drill at the range. Good stuff.

“You just swing” and carry it 282 yards 😂

Omg. This really is a good thought. I try to see the club always in my peripheral and if I lose it then I know it’s gonna be a bad swing. Same thought for my putting bc if I lose the hole in peripheral then I know I’m gonna make two putts.

For my golf swing I’m looking at the ball with my right eye and seeing the club in my left peripheral as it comes back to ascend for the down swing.

In my putt I’m looking at the hole in my left eye and looking at my club in my right. This probably makes no sense 😂. It’s just how I see it. You have to see it as works best for you.

This is especially good for long irons as well. Eliminates those odd angles that tend to get created.

Just got home from my first lesson in 6 years, I open YT, I find this video on the front page, and guess what the coach had me working on. 🤣 So there was actually 3 things... slightly weaken my grip, keep the club in front on the way back, and point the butt end of the stick at the ball or slightly inside. He turned an occasional hook into a beautiful fade. Now I just need to groove it!

As a beginner, this is the only advice that basically works for me. My swing is 10x better after just this, I feel more upright and in control.

If things get off track on the take away then it’s really hard to get things back in form. This is very simple but valued advice. People make golf so complex but the best in the world simplify the game with things like this.

You are absolutely right. Golf Magazine did an extensive series on this very thing about5 1998. They used computer analysis of touring pros and very good sketch artists to illustrate right and wrong. If you study Nicklaus, he was extremely vocal about it too all of his life. For most amateurs however, it is not as easy as one might think.. They "snatch" with their hands, arms, and shoulders by habit. Hal Sutton has also been very vocal about this too. He stated that he only played as well as his ability to do this at any given time.

The best advice I ever got is in the beginning of your backswing with a driver imagine keeping the head of the club as low to the ground as possible and as far back as possible

I found that this forces you to coil your body more correctly as well. Thanks for the tip.

A top ten thought when swinging a golf club!

I'm just getting into golf and initially thought Ben Hogan was one who had a "textbook swing" but after hearing Rory's advice here and noticing what other pros do it seems Hogan does exactly what Rory says not to do - am I correct here? I think trying to mimick Hogan's swing is why I'm so close to the heel of the club at impact. Going to try this out at the range next time and see how it makes a difference!

Excellent advice which fix my over 20 year body turn and club inside issue, had struggle is the club front body is correct or not and loss power, Rory advice give the confidence the front is right though, I start practice right away with very good solid shot, thx lots 👍😆
