Here's why Ford isn't phasing out the Mustang

Ford plans to phase out its entire car line-up, with one exception - the Mustang. CNNMoney's Peter Valdes-Dapena explains why the Mustang is here to stay.

I was born exactly nine years after the Ford Mustang debuted, and it just happens to be my favorite car! When I was a little boy, my sister Paulette had a 1973 Mustang Grande! It was red with a white vinyl top and white interior, and I really loved that car! I also hold a special place in my heart for the Mustang II (1974-1978), especially the Ghia version!

Since he didn't actually answer the question, here's the answer: by comparison to Ford's sedans, dealers move a relatively low number of mustang units; however, it's the brand image. It's impossible to think about Ford without thinking about the Mustang.

If things don't turn around for Ford you can kiss this car goodbye, Fords problems isn't their cars or Sedans.
Their problem is that they make their cars and trucks unaffordable to the average American, and that's Fords fault for doing so, don't believe me?, a regular cab f150 bare bones truck is priced at 30, 000 dollars for an XL regular cab.
That's the problem with Ford.

The reason the mustang isn't being discontinued is because it's got a wonderful design, I prefer the pre 2010 models though, and also because thousands of teenagers love this thing and have their fathers purchase one for them.
