If you have a wrist fracture; a Colle's fracture or distal radius fracture, I am going to show you a wrist fracture treatment and an exercise to reduce your pain and fast track your healing process.

If you have a wrist fracture you are probably in pain, and have some anxiety about the outcome of your healing. In this video I will give you two specific exercises and treatments that will relieve your pain and promote faster healing. If you do them, you will recover more easily.

I am also going to tell you at what point in the healing process is best to do each of these exercises and treatment. I’m will reduce your anxiety about your wrist fracture, and move you into a better place emotionally and physically for confident healing.

The first is a treatment for wrist fracture or colles fracture and is called Retrograde massage. We are going to shift our focus over to the hand instead of the wrist. With retrograde massage, you are going to reduce the swelling in your hand my gently massaging from the fingertips down to the wrist, to gently move that stagnant fluid out of the fingers and hand.

The second wrist fracture colles fracture treatment is an exercise that moves the fingers in a specific manner. It is called Tendon Glide Exercise and is designed to isolate each joint for movement and to move the tendon within the sheath of the tendon. This prevents adhesions and stiffness in the hand.

I'll give you a bonus movement that address an a frequent complication of shoulder impingement that happens often with patients with wrist fractures because they are compensating or guarding their arm. The Bonus movement is based in Qigong and Tai Chi. It will help you to get over the fear of moving your arm, and will improve blood flow to your hand, and will get you to move that shoulder so that you don't develop shoulder pain or impingement.

Thank you so much for this video! Just had surgery for my distal radius fracture 2 days ago and the pain was getting to me. I’m so grateful for these exercises once I’m able to do them.

My cast was put on this morning and the retrograde massage felt good. I'll definitely be doing the exercises. I am still dealing with shoulder issues from protecting my arm and wrist when I had my other wrist in a cast.
Love the Christmas slippers 😄

Thank you. Just wish I had seen this three months ago, it would have been so helpful. The only info I was given was wiggle your fingers. I now have stiff fingers, and a stiff shoulder. Getting better, but could have been better sooner if I had been given the right advice.

My cast was so tight across my hand and beyond my knuckles. I couldn't spread my fingers or bend them and my fingers felt clamped together. Fingers swelled went purple, I wish I'd gone back the day after, but it was one week later when they added the full castover the back slab. I got them to trim some of the cast off, but it wasn't enough, another week and i went back, yjey reluctantly trimmed a little more of my cast. From day two i was trying to do the excersize because I know how inportand it is. I'm week three now and still have painful bruising a hard lump in the crease of my elbow and. My elbow bone is very tender. I think my fracture is a smiths fracture, from looking at your diagram. I am really disappointed with the cast up to now and I don't think I can stick another three weeks.
