This has both of his absolute masterpieces: "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway), " AND "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant"... hell yeah.

I was 14 when I heard The Stranger album or in my case, a cassette tape which I played so much I wore it out. Two years later I saw him live in concert in 1983. I've been a fan for more than 40 years.

After years of struggle. Low album sales and playing small venues. The fall of 1977 his career finally takes off with his new album The Stranger climbing the charts. His single Just the Way you Are moving up the charts as well. It would become his biggest hit song up to that point. He's also now (in late 1977 ) finally playing big hockey and basketball arenas. 1978 would be a huge year for him . After that it was one hit song after another and various multi platinum albums, successful tours for the next 15 years.

Thank you so much for posting this. Back in 1982, a friend of mine had on cassette a live Billy Joel concert that a friend of his had recorded for him from a live radio broadcast. This could very well have been it as it is very rare for a live concert to be simulcast on the radio! I couldn't get enough of that cassette. I listened to it over and over again during the summer of '82.

Dude, ...you made me so happy posting this. I must’ve listened to this cassette about 200 times. Thank you to WNEW FM, also.
