Please, keep in mind that if you are buying captive-bred fish, they need to be acclimated to lower temperatures slowly as most farmed apistos are kept at tropical temperatures. Lower your temperature in steps and over a span of 1-2 weeks and your apistos should do just fine.

this guy, my dear people, is telling you nothing but the truth ! I bred / breed borellii and cacatuoides in unheated tanks in my living room (18- ... degrees). One hot summer, my borellii couple died, the temperature in the tank was too warm.
