QLC SSDs can be a cost effective addition to your system but some people think they are really bad. In this video I take another look at the performance of QLC SSDs following some comments on one of my previous videos. Was I wrong with my first reviews and assumptions, watch this video to find out as I put them to the test.

These tests that you've done have been very helpful in the research that I'm doing before upgrading my machine. I probably could have found an article somewhere saying the same stuff, but seeing it demonstrated and measured is very nice

Thanks for this video I've been looking for exactly this, my ps4 still has its out of the box 400gb hdd and is in dire need of an upgrade. The QVO should do fine

If you're doing a lot of reading and few write cycles, then the qlc should do the job.

You're missing a fundamental component of this QLC issue. How full is it.

The Samsung QVO lineup along with others of it's nature use the empty capacity as cache. They then shuffle the data in the background.

My Crucial P1s & P2 will slow to 80MB/s & 130MB/s respectively when I put them under load.

i recently picked up a 2tb team group qx sata qlc drive for expanded game storage. it was on sale for $70 but there were other tlc versions around the same price. should i consider returning it and grabbing a tlc drive instead or will this be fine for my use case? all i read online is how bad these drives are which i understand they can be for heavy workloads but what i also understand is that they get worse upon reaching capacity, so the idea is getting a larger drive to compensate for the slc caching feature it has. is that a correct assessment? i dont plan on storing super large games like warzone on this drive since i have my other higher tier ssd's for that, I plan to put all the smaller steam games below 50gb on there so my better ssd's can hold the newer more demanding titles. that still means installing or moving those smaller games onto this new qlc drive so should i expect terrible performance after moving a couple games? what do you suggest?

QLC Drives are an affordable update to low-end and older computers where better albeit more expensive drives may out pace the cost of the device. Also, for instance, using a TLC SSD for say a computer functioning as a router or firewall works well.

How are QLC in longevity compared to HDDs? I’ve heard they can do fewer read write cycles than TLC.

After 7 years of using tlc and qlc ssd-s, for an average user a qlc is good, even for playing games.
