The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT is great... but not perfect

The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT is an excellent and entertaining electric car. It has polarizing looks and an even more polarizing name, but the performance is fun and the interior is great. Still, it's definitely not perfect. The suspension tuning is odd. It's overly stiff with poor damping. And we wish the in-real-life range matched more closely with what the EPA estimate says we should be seeing. On top of that, we had an odd issue towards the end of our time with the car... watch all the way through to see what we mean.

Unbridled Extend is a GT performance only feature. So the fact it was engaged on a non performance prototype is probably why it freaked out.

Jeff, thanks for the great review. I just test drove a ‘21 Mach-E Select. It was the only one around to try. I liked it and am considering buying a new one not delivered yet. Thee are two available: a GT and a Select.

I was planning to order a Premium. Unfortunately, Premiums were removed as an option. More recently, all ordering is closed according to Ford’s website.

What do you recommend between a Select and a GT?

When I first got my GT, at 100% charge only read 220 miles to but after a month it reads 240 at 100%

I've seen a few Mach E's around town, and they look very nice. I much prefer them to the Tesla Model Y, which just looks like a tall Model 3 (which it is). It's fantastic to see the other majors getting in on the EV game and providing the market with good alternatives.
Just hope the waiting lists aren't too long for these.

Better build quality? The car broke down and Ford didn't couldn't figure out the problem. Also the Mach-E is hard to distinguish from the Hyundai Tucson. Finally, let's not overlook the 5 second power limit for performance. So basically it turns back to a base Mach-E after 5 seconds.

45 minutes to charge from 10-80%. Given you find a fast charger. An extra 1 hour to reach 100%. Seriously?

The Mach e looks more like the Focus RS in your video than a real Mustang. It is sad Ford abandoned a large contingent of loyal long time Mustang customers, including myself, by choosing the Mustang name for this vehicle.

And that boys and girls is the drawback with EV’s, when the electronics go bad ur screwed! That car becomes a 5K lbs paper weight! I think I am still two cars away from even considering buying an EV!

They should have named this car something else. Like maybe an EXP from back in the day or something. This should not be sharing the same name as Mustang.
