Excellent commentary from both viewpoints. I'm a believer in adjusting where new money is allocated vs selling to rebalance.

Using savings to rebalance works well. Occasionally an active rebalancing is necessary. I had to do one of those recently, but it's the first time I've had to in years.

Brian approach makes investing more risk adverse. Both answers are correct! Brian is textbook 30 years ago, although I’m with Bo.

Instead of rebalancing can we just put next few months investments in the asset class that has lesser allocation than desired and just that way adjust the asset allocation?

Well, a couple of years back I moved everything in my 401(k) to a target date fund to dial back some of my risk during my glide path to retirement, so rebalancing my portfolio is now an automatic process…….😐

I got lucky and sold a couple near all time highs. But I have some in the toilet.

I'm saving cash. It's just a gut feeling. Every time I think I've missed the boat, it drops back down.

You should use better terminology as 3 buckets has a more accepted meaning that is different than yours.
