We have two federal pensions, no debt, VA disability, waiting for FRA (myself) until SS, expenses are easily handled with current income, not worried about our IRA's stock markets go up and down, don't need the IRA money

I rebalance my 403b annually just after my birthday my brokerage has an automated feature.

Otherwise, I rebalance only if my taxable portfolio slips by over 5%. Usually I can adjust my contribution ratio as needed. Keep it simple.

there was an interesting section in Michael Edleson’s Value Averaging book that shows rebalancing quarterly in February, May, August, and November has been best, in terms of quarter over quarter performance independence. Edleson analyzed monthly, quarterly (four options), and annually rebalancing.

Although the aforementioned rebalancing technique was shown to be “optimal” in his 1990s research, new data might show a different “optimal” rebalancing schedule. Quarterly rebalancing might be too tedious and might not make sense for some.

I do like to rebalance by contribution rather than reallocation in taxable accounts unless I’m tax loss harvesting. I can DCA adjust on the fly too. Unless I get way outside my allocation plan (almost never). Still in accumulation phase but getting closer to retirement.

I rarely do it if I keep up & done my homework right. Retirement is done according to its set limits within it

I put some of my $ in a robo-advisor. It gets rebalanced excessively and I plan to pull it out as soon as it bounces back.

I would love some more elaborate information with rebalancing examples. What are some things to consider and what advantages should we look for? Thanks for the awesome content!

Question. Where are the full videos that these Q&As come from? Would love to watch more of these.
