Who Is This SECRET CHARACTER? - Star Trek Explained

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has arrived and while we’re getting a new look at the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike, we’re also exploring the expanded lore of the Kirk family it would seem! Yes yes, James T Kirk is eventually showing up in Season 2 and is played by Paul Wesley, well we’re not there yet.

However, we do have the character of Lieutenant Samuel Kirk, brother of the legendary Enterprise captain. Officially he is called George Samuel “Sam” Kirk, but typically only called Sam by his brother! It does seem like Pike and the Lieutenant have a good working relationship, judging by their interaction in the first episode.

Now if Finnegan shows up that's an even bigger deep cut.

He still reminds me of the Sam Rockwell character in Galaxy Quest.

this character was about to appear in Star Trek (2009), in one of the deleted scenes, Samuel and James appear together. In the end, they changed his name to Jhonny and he is only seen for a few moments. 🖖🏻✨

Thanks Captain Jack. Nice to see Samuel Kirk. Great Easter egg. In the original series, William Shatner with a mustache was shown as Samuel Kirk. Of course that character was killed in the episode.

I love all new and old Trek. This return to "adventure of the week" is actually really cool. It's a nice point of difference to the long story arcs of Disco and Picard. I just love that we now get to have such a variety of Trek to enjoy across the year. Story Arc, Planet of the Week, Kids-Oriented and even comedy. What a time we live in!

Funny thing, I had just watched Operation: Annihilate the night before SNW premiered and caught his introduction towards the very end, very nice 🙂

When Sam walked on, I was like... Ah man, we got "Kirk" rolled! -- cue up the Rick Astley music.

I loved the premiere episode, it definitely felt like Trek.

Sam Kirk's reveal did come as a surprise, but maybe it shouldn't have. Perhaps we've always been waiting for the right time, and the right series, to see JTK's brother's story pre Deneva.

And there's the guy who "died in episode 81" playing a character we know is doomed. Looks like him anyway.

Star Trek strange new worlds it’s new but feels like an old friend visiting
only thing I’m not loving is the intro music very bland

I know this is a nitpick, but shouldn't he have blonde hair?

Great info, but maybe you could have had some TOS footage instead of looping the moment when Samuel enters the bridge like 60 times?
