Kickboxing rules and grappling allowed. Its beautiful to see a karateka knows grappling so well, he was able to defend himself on the ground.

Imagine training for striking and still been a better grappler than the other guy

I learned some throws and takedowns in Kyokushin, but it wasn't allowed in tournaments, so it wasn't practiced that often. They held Judo seminars every once in a while with an instructor from a judo school the head instructor was friends with. I learned most of my grappling in high school wrestling. I think Kyokushin would benefit from allowing throws and takedowns in tournaments.

Karateka not doing any knee techs or elbow techs. This is the main attraction of kyokushin karate.

It seems that the Kyukushin guy has a slow reaction to the diving tackle of the other guy.

In my dojo we train shorin ryu karate-do, we do have grappling and submission skills because of jigoro Kano (judo father) and some masters from Okinawa trained judo to amplify the takedowns and the ground work of karate hahaha, but the main tech is striking

Bro didn't want any part of that striking smoke 😂😂😂

Rear example, when wrestler loses to striker. But is seems that karateka has some wrestling skills (its beyond the kyokushin technique), while sambist is pure wrestler. Anyway - interesting video, thanks.

Ok honestly I'm not trying to be a fight expert or anything but if ur opponent is going for the double leg like 24/7 all day all night you would think the karate guy would finally decide to throw a good knee or uppercut(if the rules dont allow knees) instead of beginning with kicks the whole time for the other guy to catch lol.

Где Кёкусинкай, где самбо? В синем кимоно парень вообще ошибся залом явно.

why does the ref keep standing em up just before shit gets real.

Кто их выставил в пару? Совершенно разный уровень подготовки.

They seem to be fighting by Karate rules, in which the referee breaks up prolonged grappling. It's not fair to the Sambo guy.

sambo guy wd have his spine broken if he uses such skills in street fight, I noticed no other skill than grappling, pinning and locks. The face kick at the end proved my words 😂

Самбисту просто никто не показал ни одного болевого приёма. Только проход в ноги. Прошёл, а чего дальше делать не знает.

So, punches to the head are legal as are takedowns and limited grappling time.
Kudo, Enshin or something similar would be my guess at the rules, I'd be interested to see them in full.
I'd also be interested to see if the Kyokushin student had more ground skills or if he only had stall until the ref stands them up in his bag of tools.
