About 50 years ago, Karatekas and Thai boxers used to fight each other all the time in Asia and it was basically 50-50. Many people seen to think that Karate doesn't work as a foundation in kickboxing, while Muay Thai works, because many karate schools have been watered down over the years and turned into businesses. But just take a look at guys like Wonderboy Thompson, Raymond Daniels or Michael Page. Real Karatekas are actual killers in kickboxing

The best part about both these pro athletes is to see the level of cardio they both have.
The amount of stamina needed to have a friendly sparring of this standard is unbelievable and only people who have done martial arts physically will understand!

One thing I love about Jeff’s videos . Is the fact that he does absolutely ZERO peacocking or posturing. He’s always humble and shows footage that highlights BOTH fighters abilities and success . Jeff doesn’t make it a highlight reel of himself. As someone that has competed and trained themselves, when you enter a gym egos are left at the door. Anyone who steps on that Mat with you is your brother and teammate, you’re there to help each other achieve goals. Jeff is a great ambassador for the sport and the gym culture that IMO is the correct gym gym culture.

Very unique opponent. Shorter, ultra flexible, and has the setups that shoot from an in and out path. I was surprised he was able to close the distance so well being the smaller fighter.

I love how he shows how effective a Side kick can be if used right. Amazing sparring session

I love how Jeff likes to have different martial arts, it lets people choose a little more. Also the commentary is very helpful!

This is so good. The comunication, the humbleness, the technique, the etiquette. To great martial artists and an example of sportsmanship.

My guy Robbie. Really a great guy. This is a true lesson on how ego less sparring looks like

As someone who has done Karate for more than 10 years
And also Kickboxing, some Muay Thai and other Martial arts…
This was a Joy to watch!

Super technical sparring, love the footwork and the accuracy of both of you guys.

Your sniper straights and his unorthodox but super effective side kicks (Yoko Geri)
Awesome stuff!

This is one of the best sparring videos I've ever watched, especially between 2 styles. You gave a very fair and unbiased breakdown of the session. Overall a great and productive video!

Great sparring session Jeff! Your foot sweeps (and sequences afterward) are really well done! I love to see it. Robbie's kicks are quite impressive. Thanks for sharing!

He's so good at kicking! In theory, dogde a kick in the head should be easier than dogde a punch, but that way he uses his kicks are as effective as a jab, even tho it has to travel more distance!

Now THIS is how to spar.

What excellent practitioners of martial arts these two are.

Sparring is a paired exercise.
‘Fighting’ is quite something else (especially in an uncontrolled situation)

Brilliant session to watch here.

First time watching this and I can already respect your content. I can watch more comparisons like this all day. It's nice hearing fighters commenting on their fights and training sessions vs commentators or fighting fans talking about the details of the engagements because the technical facts of the momentary situation are lost. Fighters expose the details rather than commentating for fans which is better for viewer ratings but unhelpful when understanding what went wrong or right for the fighter in the moment. This is one of the best videos I have seen in a long while. Keep up the amazing work!

I really appreciate how you've detailed and marked different combos. It makes the whole thing really interesting.
