Serious Eats Manila: Rong Hua Bak Kut Teh Mckinley West Taguig Philippines. Rong Hua is a Singaporean Bak Kut Teh specialty restaurant started in the 1920's by Mr. Chua Ah Hua and Uncle Rong and has grown to 3 branches in Singapore. It first international branch was franchised to the Philippines by Silver Lush Food Corporation in August 2019 and is located at Mckinley West in Taguig City.
Bak Kut Teh is a traditional Singaporean Malay dish that translates to Meat Bone Tea. It is composed of meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices including star anise, cinnamon, cloves, dang gui, fennel seeds and garlic for hours. This casual dining 52 seat restaurant is spacious and modern with couch seating.
From their extensive menu we would highly recommend their Pork Rib Soup, Pork Tenderloin Soup, Choy Sum, Spinach with Top Shell Abalone and Home Made Fried Prawn Roll. The best part is that the soup is unlimited. We look forward to our next visit!
