While To Pimp a Butterfly IS my favorite album of all time, I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I listen to enough music across every genre to definitively say it's the greatest of all time. That being said, LET'S GO BABY TPAB #1, KENDRICK W

I have this album signed by kendrick himself. Waited 8 hours in line the day of release for him to sign it. He was such a nice man.

OK Butterfly or To Pimp a Computer would probably clear imo.

So epic to see Fantano finally acknowledge Total Xanarchy as the album of all time

Can't believe Anthony Fantano ranked his own album as #1, honestly I expected more from him.

Miles Davis was one of the biggest influences on OK Computer and To Pimp A Butterfly and that should not be ignored or overlooked!

It’s finally overtaken The Big Day. Truly a momentous occasion.

RYM turned a new leaf by giving undergroud artists like Kendrick Lamar the respect he deserves💯👍🏾🫡😎

I was a sophomore in high school when TPAB came out. this album was the one of first albums I’ve ever sat through in its entirety and let me just say how much this helped me understand the importance of self acceptance. this album opened my eyes in a time of nativity of racism and how deep it runs. as this album and I grow older, I’ll always come back to it as an anchor to what I identify with. we all know that TPAB is gonna age like a fine wine. I’ll probably be 50 and never forget it’s impact on me!

I’m happy to have discovered this album (and Kendrick) the week Mr Morale dropped. Unaware of its status in the community I was able to appreciate the record as the work of art it is

Honestly “How much a dollar costs” really hits the “nail” on that album

In my opinion

I know it's an extremly cold take, but man was this album mindblowingly amazing. I don't think any other album had such a big impact on me as this one.

i think the reason ok computer is that well recieved in rate your music is because how well it aged, that feeling of alienation that songs like subterranian homesick alien or the guide of how to be part of society of fitter happier are more relevant than ever in the internet age, for me it was also my introduction to music in a more deep level, before radiohead i used to listen to pop punk or jazz playlist back when i was 16

I really liked the statement you made about how people consume music because they’re classic and because of how unique they sound or the aesthetic. It resonated with me because I typically listen to older albums with the same mindset. I don’t dig deep into the message or lyricism much. However I feel like it’s important to do that, not only for perspectives sake, but also to guide the listener inside a completely different era. Maybe when I listen to 100 gecs in 30 years i’ll get it.

I remember in 2015 feeling lucky to be alive to see TPAB drop. I thought what I felt was probably the same feeling other people had who saw legendary albums drop in their time, like 36 Chambers, ATLiens, The Blueprint, or even Purple Rain or something. The album dropped and then I saw it make a tidal wave through the culture. So fucking awesome. Dusting off the 12” today in celebration.

both TPAB and OK Computer are incredible albums. I’m glad that TPAB took the number 1 spot.

RYM ratings always need a grain of salt because it's a website that attracts a specific type of people and holds a very particular community
