DIY Bevel Cutter Build

preview_player
Показать описание
Making bevel / chamfer cutter tools for the milling machine.
These allow a 45 degree bevel on either the top or bottom of a cantilevered plate.
This was a fun build and a chance to experiment with fits, tapers and interesting geometry.

Plans available for rotary broaches and these bevel tools:
Note; plans are revised based on my prototypes, and are subject to change with improvements. Please feel free to provide feedback

The steels used (4140 and 1214) are from Tyne Valley Metals. Perfect for the hobbiest seeking short lengths!
I plan to do more videos soon where I show where certain steels provide benefit. Stay tuned.

You done a fine job young man I'm a retired machinist while I was working I would take a broke windmill sharpen it by hand on a 45 and hand clearance it worked great and fast and easy way to use up broke tooling would take a pretty heavy cut then climb mill on the spring pass and be chatter free you also have a nice shop of machines and tooling keep up the good work

Ok, so it seems I‘ve found a new machining channel to subscribe to.

After watching This old Tony over and over again in the last four years, binge watching Artisan makes, a little we can do that better and inheritance machining here and there, your videos are most promising to keep me away from doing my actual job for the next year or so… thank you 🥰

I think these two Cutter Bodies look fabulous. I really like the fact that you are well aware that the Insert Screw location is critical. Been Selling Industrial tools for over Forty Two Years. Dont worry about getting them Blued or Blacked. I think the raw finish makes them unique and that's the way they should be. Very well done..! As far as the finish the first tool produced, check to see if those TNMG inserts have a neutral or positive rake, if they are true TNMG Inserts, they have a neutral rake meaning the "back" of the cutting edge may be hitting as it exits the cut... producing the chatter marks. 🤔

1.59 sounds like me welding underneath a
Looks like a money saver and a learning experience, I have no doubt that you could play around with feed speeds to solve some of the faceting

Thanks for sharing and stay safe all.

Great vid, Tom 😊. A small climb cut might clean up the faceting 🤔. Can totally relate with the hot chips burning your hands 🤣. Bloody brilliant! Thanks for the share! Cheers 👍😁👍

Oddly well-timed video, this. I need a dovetail cutter and I've been looking for something fun to do with my 4th axis...
