Yeah, its really important to respond than react.
I respond to majority of my unwanted PL marketing calls like "Right now am not interested but will call you back for sure if required" . With this I could seriously sense a glimpse of happiness from the person on the other side. Its just a matter of showing empathy and courteous to everyone.
