It’s sad. Everyone pays way more attention to forwards than midfielders, defenders, or goalkeepers. All the media goes around the forwards because they score the goals, but it’s the midfielders who give them the opportunities to score. It’s the defenders who stop the goals. It’s the goalkeepers who keep the ball out. Forwards are very good, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that people should pay more attention and congratulate the other players on the pitch for what they do and contribute.

Edit: I didn’t say midfielders never win it. I said forwards is all most people pay attention to. They only pay attention to forwards because they are the ones who score. That’s why they usually win it. No one pays nearly as much attention to other positions. You rarely actually see a position that’s not a forward win the ballon d’or.
