I am going to write this in case it helps someone else.

1st part

I have spent alot of money on shrimp and never really been that successful, my main problems were a couple of shrimp dying per week and them never reproducing ...not even getting berried.

I use ro water with salty shrimp and i was even getting to the point of dripping in water changes over days to try and stop the deaths to no avail.

I was now convinced this wasnt water related in the way i thought it was but it was in another way ....i was over feeding.

I changed my routine to one i saw on this channel months ago, feed on MON/WED/FRI at a ratio of half a pea sized piece of food per 20 shrimp .

On the days off i feed a tiny amount of bacterial food, pencil tip size.

As soon as i did the above all my deaths stopped.

2nd part

This was really simple as i had noticed a general lack of micro fauna in my systems...i increased my light times to 12hrs a day from 8hr. This will be different for everybody but this worked for me.

I did this to try and encourage more algae in my tanks because i read somewhere that shrimps food in the wild is 70% algae.

Well it worked, the bottom of my tanks are crawling with life now, the first week after i changed everything i had 10 berried CRS/CBS mischlings.

Of which nearly all of the babys survived :)

How do you keep getting a good supply of rodi water without getting a system for it? I been keeping sakura shrimps using only tap water with good success since they are very hardy but i want to go into a more expensive species like the taiwan bees so i guess tap water is out of question now

You mention the substrate lasting for a year or so. My question is, how can you effectively switch out the used up substrate after a year, without forcing your tank to have to recycle?

Great video man! What tanks are you using here? Are they custom or can you buy them? Thanks

Great video with lots of useful information, thank you. I'd love to get me some Wine Red shrimp, they're simply amazing. I just fear the additional effort compared to my Neocaridinas. Well, may be some day...

What do you think about Controsoil still? still a good substrate to use? Amazon has a sale right now for 3L bag for $15 shipped.

How long has the controsoil last you? (still buffering?)

Anyone keeping Bees please reply. I have a heavily planted tank having Taiwan Bees. My GH is 5. KH 0-1, TDS 140-150 Temperature is 72-74 usually. No Amonia or no3 or no2. I use Distilled water reminilized with Sl Aqua blue wizard. However my pH is 7 and it is not going down. Will my Taiwan Bees breed in such pH? They haven't breed yet and I have them now for like two months. In your experience will they breed in 7 PH.
