Hi Dan, great video! Maybe you could help me out. I’m creating my own templates for film scoring in Pro Tools, and the way I’m doing it is by adding almost all my orchestral virtual instruments, synths, drums—basically every instrument I use for film scoring—into the template, organized in folders. All the tracks are inactive, and I use a shortcut to activate an instrument track whenever I need it.

The problem is that my .ptx session file is 300MB, and every auto-backup file is also 300MB, so my backup folder fills up really fast. Is there any way to make the session file smaller? I know there are a lot of tracks (about 500), but I’ve seen Spitfire’s templates, and they seem much lighter than mine.

I hope I explained that clearly! If you have any advice, that would be amazing, but no worries if you can’t. Keep up the great work!

Thanks.

Is there a way to rename a template, and is there a way to delete a template once created? Thanks.

I wonder how this changes, if at all, with the new Studio version/Ultimate version of Pro Tools. I've just resubscribe from a perpetual and its now a perpetual Studio at 23.12. I like the new track markers and colouring conventions, which is great.

I only want them to get rid of the mix and edit windows in window and it will be near perfect for usability.

What about creating a session template when you don’t have one to start with?

That video rocked. I have never even heard of folders before. U bet I am using this. Let me ask u this, does it take less CPU by using the folders? Or is the reason to organize a session
