It looks much better and you left it so it can be easily fixed by the next person. Always make sure you don’t leave a mess for the next person to clean up! This is what my dad always taught us when teaching us the trade. Do the job properly and you will only have to do it once was another one my dad liked to tell us. You cleaned up someone’s else’s work and made it easier for the next person, I am impressed and I am very rarely impressed by YouTube videos.

PEX. I work in a restaurant and many times a Year the plumber is fixing a leak. Even had to drill a huge hole and dug under the ground to fix it. We have so much hot water under the concrete slab it was always radiant heat from the leak. That only happened twice. Such great stuff.

I have all copper, but the braided SS toilet supply line had a plastic nut on the toilet side. It burst while I was away on vacation. Never again. I installed a whole house water alarm/ shutoff valve. Used the old phone line wires for the sensors to connect to the main unit.

I’ve been using those little chrome pipe covers that come with an escutcheon.
Looks better, still get all the advantages of PEX .

Anglestop valves for toilets look better and cleaner if you point them towards the center of the toilet instead of up, the supply “hides” behind the toilet and it doesn’t “loop” like in the video.

You can do a compression stop valve with a plastic insert. The metal feral will crush down onto the plastic insert making it to where the nut won’t pop off and then in future service, they can just unscrew the old stop valve and install a new one. Most of the compression stop valves are the same thread and size.

I had to have one replaced in my bathroom. Pisses me off that the original builders went as cheap as they possibly could.

I mean its just me but if I was replacing those on the entire house I would either get the stub out sleeve and flange covers for them or would have cut the pex back. They also sometimes call it tube and flange but basically prevents that 1" of pex just floating there. I also would turn the angle stop 90° to the left or right so you dont have as much bunching in the hose line.

oh yes the FIP angle stop that connects to the XR34 trunk for proper flow and execution. we do those daily here.

I have yet to see a new construction in my area that isn't pex but nowhere around here sells plastic valves

I don’t know what your push Fitt connections are but in the UK push Fitt is the only style of fitting for these plastic pipes that that is reliable and long lasting

You could cover the plastic with a metal sleeve to make it look better.

I saw something the other day where the toilet was hard plumbed front the wall shutoff valve to the toilet. I've never seen that before

If I was building a house I’d at least convert to copper for the stub outs. I hate pex stub outs because they feel so flimsy. It’s fine inside areas where it can’t be touched but it feels like you’re going to break the pipe trying to turn the valve off sometimes especially on an older almost seized valve

I think they make different length supply lines for a reason
