I think:
Repentance means a change of mind. The context determines what one is to change one's mind about. Repentance is not about being broken, or crying scalding tears, or even being remorseful (although this can happen as an aside); it's about changing your thoughts in favor of what God wants you to believe. If God says, through Paul, that all the sins of the world were forgiven by Christ 2000 yrs ago, and God offers Identification/Union through Justification with Christ to all who believe Christ's cross- work (apart from any works), then That is what we are to believe.

All sins have been forgiven! There is nothing else that Christ is going to forgive. We are called to get God's thoughts in our heads, not to be repenting of our daily sins for forgiveness of those sins. We are to be thanking God that NO sin has been (nor will be) imputed to us, and use this reality as a base to grow in Grace.

If "easy believism" were so easy to believe, most people would believe it. But it seems to me that most people tend to flock where some sort of self-righteousness is taught by the good ol' ministers of righteousness. Just as Israel sought their own righteousness, so do [the same] a lot of church goers.

Dear brother Bryan,
I want to thank you for your message about repentance before true salvation. I can testify that I prayed the sinners prayer in 1980. It took me until 2013 before I truly truly repented. I have been through an unbelievable renewal over the last 18 months and I now know I'm saved, and before, well quite frankly I have my doubts. So I knew Jesus but was not a new being, was not a good person and spent trying to be one through my own works. The last 30 years has been like hell on earth. I can confirm your message is on the money. (I know not a good analogy) You are correct and I believe probably millions of so called converts are like me and many have not and may never return to the Lord and repent. The Lord convicted me and I had to completely surrender. I am a new person that can not be explained. Your teachings cover this subject perfectly. I think I get it, please correct me if I'm wrong.

You realize that you're a sinner and that you deserve hell, and you can't save yourself. It's like what addicts are told--you have to recognize you have a problem. If you don't recognize it, you won't want to do anything about it. You recognize the problem, and you realize, hey, I have a big problem here, and I need help! I don't want to do this anymore!

So you recognize you're a sinner. You realize you've offended God and that if you got what you truly deserved, you'd be in hell. This is repenting from sin and toward God.

You ask God to forgive you. You recognize that Jesus shed His blood to wash away your sins. You receive Him. You leave the cleaning up to Him.

That doesn't help your case if you believe in Easy Believism.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9.

James 1:1 tells who James is talking to...
1 Cor. 15: 1-4 is "the Gospel".
Salvation makes a "new creature" and changes us...
...we don't change ourselves first.

the went from unbelief to belief. That is repenting. It is impossible to "begin believing" without repenting (changing your mind).

Good job brother bryan, even though I was "saved" at 12 I truly did not believe until two years ago as I prayed to God through Jesus christ, to take away my anger issues and I accepted jesus more into my life and in my heart, in doing so things have really turned around for me in life. I am currently in college which I really thank the Lord Jesus for the credit because I truly believe he answers our prayers. While it may not be immediate but rather it can take time. Though i do struggle with other sins and I am not the only one, I have more strength to resist by placing my faith on the blood of Jesus Christ to wash away my sins. God Bless ya man.

Thank you for approaching the topic of easy believism that is constantly misunderstood by many. I have had to deal with this subject in recent times and I now understand why repentance is necessary before salvation . Thank you for using scripture to explain it. You misunderstand what we are to repent from for you turn salvation by faith into salvation by works. We are not saved by repenting from sins but by repenting from faithlessness to faith in Christ to save us. This is the ONE and only work God commands from us....Joh:6:29: "Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." NOT repent from sins and believe....but ONLY IN repentance is one of faith from faithlessness. Joh:20:27: "Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing."

Thank you brother, I almost got deceived by the doctrine of believism before repentance. You have really shed a light on me by releasing the true meaning of salvation which comes after repentance leading to believe!
