Truth is
Dragon Age II is awesome. Sure it doesn't have the story of DAO and certain environments are very repetitive but the depth of the characters has improved, the fighting is much better and basically you don't have to heal all the time like in the first one. If you are a console owner and a fast-paced gamer you will probably love DA2 if you like pause and play stick to the first one.

9/10 for sure

Are you kidding? Both of the DLC were better than the whole game. No surprises? You're telling me that fighting a boss that turned into the first darkspawn after entering the Maker's city isn't surprising? And lame bosses? Oh yeah that whole thing with Corypheus was really lame. IGN, you never cease to amaze me.

The DLC was an improvement over the main game, mostly. No waves of enemies dropping from the ceiling, no recycled environments, more enemy variety and a decent personal story for Hawke.

Personally, I love DA2, and I can overlook things like map recycling and things like that. I'm really enjoying the game, but respect everyone has opinions.

@XXThrashtera88XX I agree, i love origins its my 3rd favorite game of all time that's the point they need to make da3 more like dragon age origins. Have more character interaction, character story. Stop with the same old dungeons over and over. Keep the combat, add more strategy. And have a better story, once they do that da3 will be just as good as origins.

@GravitasNotIncluded 6.5 isn't bad. It's above average. For what it is, it's good, but it's not going to knock your socks off. A 6.5 is basically a "It's functional, so if you really like the genre, or for DLC the original game, it's not a waste of money, but don't expect The Shivering Isles".

There's no point in shitting on the reviewers, because it's entirely subjective. Just because IGN gave your favourite game a 7 doesn't mean it's not a 10 in your book.

Now here is where I have a different opinion. I found it a great add on. Gave us more types of dark spawn and some nice weapons and armor.i found well worth the money. And I can't wait to do it again and for mode dlc for dragon age 2. :) :D

I like how Bioware called this DLC a gift to gamers, as it was supposed to address every complaint people had of DA2. They added new environments and new loot...still doesn't fix the rest (majority) of the game.

He should've talked about the bugs, like the sound glitches and the issues with the final boss. These are game-breaking factors to consider before buying the DLC.

@iPhap agree, no sane gamer would've expected DA2 to be as good as DAO, but even though it's not bad, it shows how devs ( i'm not even sure if the devs are the same ones) rush making a sequel to a popular game hoping players will buy it based just on its predecessor's fame (which is kinda true for at least half "gamers" out there)

DA2 had some really cool ideas too that seemed to be blown by a deadline or lack of funding or something. I liked the new combat for the most part and the unreliable narrator was something thats new to video games as far as i know

@FeuerFremder Like the other guy said, im pretty sure the people who made dragon age are not working on mass effect, theyre working on more dragon age. So dragon age's failings are no concern to you as a mass effect fan, they did well for 1 and 2 so i trust them to listen to feedback enough to make 3 great.

people say this game is dumbed down because they are too scared face the brutality of nightmare. REAL gamers play games on the hardest difficulty first.

D:A2 was bad because Bioware rushed it out. It came out about a year to a year and a half after D:AO and because of that it didn't have the polish it needed which is sad. Some more time in development to flesh out the characters with more conversations, more caves and visible changes to kirkwall as the game progresses and D:A2 would have been epic.

It's Ok, personally I enjoyed the ones from DA:O more, but this was a step up in many ways from the base game. Though it is true that all of the environments were 'new', the dungeon was the same map copy pasted 3 times. Had the rest of the game been more like this though it would have been less of a disappointment.
This was on par with Soldiers Peak, I guess, too bad Sebastien was no Shale.

While im guessing that IGN is right, I wouldnt completely write this off on one review, try it for yourself and see how it goes, alot of fans have given this a good review
