How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

I’m watching this from Lisbon, Portugal! We sold all our stuff, and travel as full time digital nomads. Very true about point #3 🙌🏽

Sold my freight company recently. The freight and shipping industry is in the shitter. Used to get loads for 6 bucks a mile going for 2k miles. 12k in a few days. Now you're lucky to find anything about 90 cents a mile.

I've been talking about warehousing and shipping for years. Every company I've done work for has had problems with fluctuating production volume and they refuse to warehouse product because of the cost. In the mean time their turn over rate is astronomical because one month their employees are working 20 hrs a week and the next month they need them to work 60-80 to keep up with demand. That's only one side of the coin as some companies have too much demand and nowhere to put it.

Alex, can you please expand a little more on the mobile studios?... i had this thought but only in a building... not mobile... Why are you suggesting this idea for photographers?

As a former blockchain dev and someone who got into the crypto game since 2013 (and subsequently semiretired), I agree, but I highly recommend people exploring blockchain and defi and their use cases. Seriously.

I would nix the shipping business. I was in that business for 20 years. In California at least, there has been a shortage of drivers for the last 7 years. It may be a great industry, but if you can't find and keep drivers, your ability to grow is severely limited. The exceptions are FedEx, UPS, DHL and companies like Amazon because they can pay top dollar and can afford new equipment more frequently. Quality drivers flock to these companies. If you have a small business, you get the misfits and those who don't keep steady jobs and fall back on "driving" because it is easy.

Agree with everything apart from warhouse storage. I reckon 3D printing reduce storage and global shipping. ‘Stuff’ will be printed on demand. Love the channel just found it, thanks for the wisdom.

Using the word “billionaire” pretty loosely there

What do you think about buying a mini rv camper van and just living in it and using it as a mobile office? Instead of rent it could be paid off in a couple years and I could park it free by the beach? I used to also work as a sr account manager in warehousing and logistics, and before that media sales rep for tv station. Now I’m confused which to go back to next

If someone says they have nothing to sell you, you are the product.

Crypto/NFT training business that upsells mobile studios on the side to its students (potentially with some partnership with a fellow Hormozian), 4D chess baby. Teach students how to buy warehouses/real estate with profits generated from course.
