Elderly man killed, 2 others injured after dog attack on West Side

An 80-year-old man was killed and two others are in the hospital after a serious dog attack on the city’s West Side, according to officials.

The fact that the police or a neighbor didn't shoot those dogs is beyond me. If I had witnessed this in my neighborhood, those dogs would me dead before rescue even arrived.... I love animals, but I'm not gonna stand there & watch a poor old man be mauled to death!!

There was a time when a large and dangerous dog was automatically euthanized if it attacked and bit someone. How these dogs were returned to the owner after a previous was attack is beyond me. There were not only warning flags, there were neon flashing signs ignored that could have prevented this tragedy.

I swear, every time I read a story about the same breed of dog maiming or killing someone, everybody chimes in with “but my pit is a gentle little baby, it’s all in how you raise them”. In most cases, that’s probably true. But objectively speaking, of all the cases I’ve personally been aware of over the years where a family pet with no history of violence suddenly snapped and mauled a toddler to death or something, it was almost always a pit or a pit mix of some kind. People will happily acknowledge that certain breeds are more prone to particular positive personality traits, but bizarrely refuse to believe any breed can be more prone to certain negative personality traits. It’s absolutely irrational.

The dog problem is out of control in San Antonio. Dogs can kill a human being but we can not destroy this dog???? That dog needs to be destroyed immediately.
