Self Healing Metal: Available Technology from the Penn Center for Innovation

This video features a new technology invented in the lab of Dr. James Pikul of the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science.

This healing cellular metal is a new structural material that can continuously self-repair cracks and redistribute cellular materials within itself at room temperature. This material is capable of reinforcing itself through the path of stress within the member while under standard conditions.

There is better technology out there than what you're showing. Once in the 90's i was watching the discovery channel and an engineer was holding a thin square piece of metal. He took a knife and started slicing through it and it instantly fused back together directly behind the knife blade. When he cut all the way across the metal it was still one whole piece. Only saw it on t.v. that one time. Have never seen that again anywhere. I got the feeling that it was accidentally leaked and was not supposed to be shown. I have never seen it again to this day.
