I’m having the opposite problem…. I keep expecting the best in people and getting disappointed when they continuously let me down. I keep expecting (to stick with your examples from the video) for all of my professors to always say yes, and for all of my friends to be excited and willing to help me move - and the reality keeps being that I’m consistently told “no” and getting disappointed because I’m apparently expecting way too much from people. How do we fix this from the opposite side? I literally never have the problem you talk about in this video - i always expect the best and 99% of the time get disappointed by a negative outcome when i was expecting a positive one, never or very rarely the reverse as you describe here.

I'm jobless, I'm expecting a job that I know will make me miserable. Because when I'm jobless my parents look at me like I'm a burden lol.

This was so interesting to listen to... Expectations... hypotheticals projected into the future... Shaping our perceptions, bias and physiology...how he says this or how this was interesting

Ok, so if I expect my neighbours will be intelligent or respectful enough and trust they not bother me during the night so I can sleep, and they will certainly do the opposite, like moving furniture every night until 1. The sharp, loud noise will shake me to the point of fight or flight, and for the rest of the night I cannot wind down enough to get back to sleep. So if I ask them to stop moving the furniture, and fear for a bad reaction, does that mean that my expectations of their reaction causes the same thing, and a lot of stress (physiological

It is not a problem of the mind! Mind is free! What is a problem is a doubt and shortsightness. Expectations are a positive force when you eliminate the doubt. Doubt comes with worry and worry has no foundation, meaning that worry is a sign of care and as soon as you notice you worry, realize you have nothing to worry about. Because everything always works out, just not when you doubt. When you doubt you take a wrong turn and there is nothing that holds you. You are just a wig on the wind and everyone, everything can easily do whatever they want to your life. So expect good, stop worrying knowing that is also a good sign of you caring and then just have absolutely no doubt which is the cause of all problems. I love you!
