I worked for Vector in Wilmington, Ca. In 89 for about 6 months, I was a bodyman, my job was to refine the lines of the rear end and taillights. I came to work one day everyone was standing around the black Vector and laughing and I looked at the front end it was all smashed in, I said "what happened", one of the guys said the Vector passed the DOT crash test with flying colors, !!! 😆

I don't know if I'm partial or not maybe, but I think Vector W8 is still one of the most eye pleasing designs I've seen. Plus well designed mechanically.

I visited the Peterson Automotive museum whilst on holiday in L.A. and they'd just received a mint, silver coloured W2 twin turbo as an addition to their collection. I couldn't believe how actually small it was...such an incredible machine!

It was back in the late eighties when I was still in high school. When I first came across the Vector W2 twin turbo, And it just blew me away. And I've never missed an opportunity to see a video or read an article talkin about it.

I was a kid when this was in the magazines. It never seemed like it was going to work but man it is gorgeous.

I like that screen on the dash, it look like very 80 futuristic cartoonish like very 80s movies..

Cool car. I love these. I especially like that it wasn't trying to be a Ferrari or Lamborghini. It was an American supercar. It used the TH425 out of the FWD Eldorado and Toronado but with stronger internals and shorter gearing in 1st and 2nd so that they could use a very tall axle ratio for a high top speed while not compromising acceleration much. It also used a manual valve body so the gears had to be shifted by the driver, with no auto mode. The larger RPM drop of the new gears was probably not a problem due to the immense torque of the twin turbo V8. Does anyone remember the later Vectors that were Lamborghini V12 powered and built on a modified Diablo chassis? I remember a local exotic car dealership having one for sale with a stars and stripes paint scheme. I don't think they had vinyl wraps back then.

In motor trend magazine, it said it was the fastest production car at the time achieving speeds of 240 mph.

I read somewhere that the prototype W8 known as the W2 car ran over 250 mph at Bonneville without the wing on the back. Don't know how true or even if the car has ever been to Bonneville. But everything is worth looking into with such little info on the car. The Vector Aeromotive sponsor video is a good watch it's been uploaded to youtube.

I saw it in a book in elementary school. It said it had f16 parts or something like that in it. I have always tgought they were so cool.

Whoever the owner is he's a very fortunate man to have such an incredibly rare vehicle with all that power when there wasn't anything like that kind of power back in the early 90s. The best you are getting was maybe 250 or 300 horsepower out of a Corvette

Vector sold $7, 000, 000 worth of posters for every car they sold. The car itself was just a ploy to sell a poster to every single teenage boy in the US. lol I had one to so at least one girl bought one. It was between Lita Ford and Farrah . Okay, I admit, my wall looked just like a teen boy's room. I still think it's a sexy car.
