I love this supercar! It makes the Countach look plain in comparison lol. And that fighter jet digital screen is so freakin cool!

I love the vector, it looks crazy in person. I love the story/explnation of the car from Donald and Ben.

As a 50-year-old, I still remember seeing the posters for the Vector in the early to mid 1980s. I also remember that the word vector was used in advertisements for various products. There was a tire company (I don't remember which one), that said they used vector graphics to design their latest tire.

The idea for it was that Weigert did not have the eyesight the become a fighter pilot. He created his own land jet, the screens inside the car cost over 10, 000 dollars. The Vector W2 (Weigert 2 turbochargers) made in 1972 was the predecessor to the W8. To make it look like there were many he re-painted it, I am un-aware of the original color. It is currently constructed just with out a motor unlike many sources say. My dad was offered this to invest in Weigerts reformed Vector company. Over the next twenty years he struggled to get adequate funding for the W8's but they started production in 1990, two were constructed in pre-production and 18 were made normally. Once these were made Weigert realized he would be financially incapable of consistently producing W8's in a wide span. He created a new concept cars under the name Vector WX-3. 2 were made, one a blue Coupe, and a purple roadster but never made to production. After Megatech conducted a hostile takeover on Vector Aeromotive the M12 was produced. This was largely regarded as one of the worst cars ever made and was just a worse Lamborghini Diablo, Weigert later sued the company and was able to get rights back to the name Vector. Both the Vector SRV8 and WX-8 were produced as concept cars which would be used for production cars in the later two thousands, unfortunately Weigert passed before his dream of a production car was created. My dad is in touch with the children of Weigert and it is also expected that at least one of the concept cars will come to auction sometime soon.

From the late 80s until the early 2000s I used to tell people this was probably my favorite car and next to no one ever knew what it was even it definitely wasn't perfect but it deserves a lot more credit!!

My appreciation for the audrain museum is immeasurable. My suggestion would be for Donald and Jay to drive it.

A most enjoyable presentation, thanks. I crossed paths with a Vector in LA at AutoExpo in about 1979. Got to sit in the Vector because I was possibly a prospective buyer.

This was so much more interesting to me as a kid than the Countach ever was - sad that it didn't succeed. Great video 👍

Still one of my all time favorite cars. It's very cool that it passed the safety tests with one chassis, never knew that.

THE VECTORs and what GERALD created is amazing! It's the same ol story, the competition was afraid of something too good so they had to destroy. Just like the AVRO ARROW. The VECTORs are the automotive equivalent of the AVRO ARROWs. RIDE IN PEACE GERALD.

I remember these back in the day. They looked over-the-top then and still look over-the-top now. A great idea and a great concept, BUT, as was said, it was short lived. I remember hearing that Andre Agassi bought one and it was so plagued by problems, he demanded his money back. I almost surely wouldn't want to be the owner of one today because i'm sure its a parts replacement nightmare. Its best just being a garage ornament. A very expensive garage ornament, but an ornament none the less.

this car with a manual transmission would have been a true unicorn, the automatic must have been for production costs issues
