Thsese clowns get a tv show about cars, get their hands on a g-damn Vector w-freaking-8, and devote a whole MINUTE on it?!? They use it as an intro spot for the rest of the show? How do you get a car like this and not DEVOTE THE WHOLE DAMN HOUR to this car?

The reason is very simple: It's basically a kit car built by a small team of nuts. They just took a GM 4.7 liter V8, dug out the cylinders and changed the pistons to bring it to 6 liters then added two big turbines, one per each 4 cylinder stand. Then they built a weird "low tech" carbon fiber chassis in honeycomb when europeans already were doing multi-layer corss-fiber...they mounted the engine on it and covered it with (cool looking) plastic panels and finished it off....with standard workshop modified GM poduction parts (suspension, brakes, lights... the gear/clutch system is a 3 gear hydraulic auto form a GM motorhome of the '70s...even the ignition is a standard GM and the car keys are cheap ones with GM logo on them). The car was credited for insane 385 km/h max speed but I never found a single video in which someone drives it over say 170-180 km/h.... at 280 km/h the thing probably feels more like a coffin than a supercar. It was basically a scam, you can fool the press but not real customers used to driving top-notch Ferrari, Aston Martin or Lamborghini...they probably test-drove it and said "no thanks".

It's amazing the amount of stupid In these comments... vector was bought, and the owner was fired by what was supposed to be a investor because he ran out of money building this great technological beast of its time.This guy built hell of a car for 1990 and even today.adjustable boost from inside the cockpit, carbon fiber, and other aerospace materials, top speed was based off of lowest boost setting because of fuel mixture... stfu haters!

History channel is way off as usual, "born in 1990 it was the first that could compete with Lamborghini an Ferrari.." bullshit - in reality the old version (W2) that I had on the wall in my boy room in 1984 - was the one that outperformed the European supercars, and was at the time the worlds fastest production car. The W8 only continue the legacy of this incredible looking hi-tec wonder.

Brazil had the opportunity to meet these wonderful cars of the Vector in the game Gran Turismo 2. I was sad because the Vector did not appear in the game Gran Turismo 3, 4, 5 and 6. They could appear in Gran Turismo 7.
