5:25 There are two lateral ventricles, and in the middle, we have the third ventricle. We can remember that the pineal gland, which is also called the "third eye" because it is related to the sleep-wake cycle, is located posterior to the third ventricle.

We can remember, THIRD eye – posterior to the THIRD ventricle.

It can be said that most of us "lose our third eye, " so pineal gland calcification can be physiological. (This is just a memory aid or mnemonic.)

*Order of Radiosensitivity:*
Bone marrow > Gastrointestinal tract (GIT) > Skin > Central nervous system (CNS)

During the division of cells, DNA replication occurs, during which the DNA strands separate and new strands are formed on each old strand due to the complementary nature of DNA.

*Why does more cell division occur in bone marrow compared to the gastrointestinal tract (GIT)?*

The hematopoietic system is more sensitive because a small number of stem cells are responsible for producing cells for the entire body. In contrast, the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) has regenerative cells in every region, allowing for continuous renewal. This results in a higher rate of cell division in the bone marrow compared to the GIT.

*Why does more cell division occur in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) compared to the skin?*

In the gastrointestinal tract, solid food particles move through along with digestive enzymes that can break down proteins and fats. This exposes the cells to significant abrasion, requiring frequent renewal and a high rate of cell division.

*Why does more cell division occur in the skin compared to the CNS?*

The skin, as a protective barrier, interacts extensively with a harsh external environment that is often in a non-physiological state. It serves as the first line of defense, necessitating frequent renewal of its cells.

In contrast, the CNS is not known for cell division. It is shielded from the external environment by the skull and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Moreover, the neuronal connections in the brain are so intricate that cell division could disrupt these connections, potentially causing "weird wirings." CNS cells divide very rarely, which is why patients with brain injuries, such as strokes, face significant challenges due to the brain's limited regenerative capacity.
