Whether you have old footage that needs enhancement or you shot in 1080p and would like to be able to vary your frame size or crop in post, this video walks you through one fast & easy way to do it. In the demo, I use 720p footage but of course, you should be able to achieve even better results using 1080p footage as your source.

I was using Gigapixel for a while to upscale low-resolution photos and the result is satisfying almost 100% of the time, and I thought why not use the same concept with video frames and therefore be able to sharpen and upscale video footage as well, so I tried it and made a tutorial. I hope you guys find this useful :)

Edit: to customize the upscaled file name in newer versions (v5.0): go to file>preferences, remove the default prefix and suffix, and disable "add scaling mode to filename"

Hmm.. This gets me wondering.. It seems that this method would be also extremely beneficial in 3D animation: render low-resolution images and then upscale the already rasterized images with a significantly smaller rendering times. Fantastic, thanks!

You should use Video Enhance AI, it's trained on actual video instead of photography. It's also much more stable in motion than in gigapixel.

Great videos. Ive used this same technique in the past to upscale old documentary footage. Hopefully Topaz AI eventually releases a video upscaler so we dont have to do the whole frame export thing.

The one month free trial without any watermarks, or limitations is a great deal. I was really impressed what this did to a old photograph that I scanned and some other photographs that I tried; however, it doesn't work on all photographs. One photograph it actually made it worse.
