The 351 is a great platform. Lots of potential with some good parts. Love the Dentside too, probably the most classic, beautiful generation of Ford pickup.

Recently bought an ‘81 el Camino with a small block 305 in it. Been following your videos to how to restore it. Thanks for the help.

Ford needs to bring back a modern 5.8 (351) pushrod engine. With a new cross bolted bottom end, forged internals, high flowing aluminum heads, and long runner intake it would rival the competition.

I just did to my 75 Ford E-150 shorty van. Updated the 351w with 4 barrel intake, air gap, single. New Edelbrock 1406 and refurbished Mickey Thompson Valve covers. I wish I had the money for cam, heads, and the other goodies. Hey, one of these days, right? lol

Thanks for the video fellas

I'm pretty much doing this exact project on my 1977 Thunderbird. She originally had a 351w, and that engine was replaced at some point with a (period correct) engine built in 1979 according to cast numbers. Currently has already been bored .040 over at some point amd has newer mahle pistons in it, so I'm going to just use a ball hone to refresh the cross hatching and put new rings in. For heads, I'm going to use a set of Twisted Wedge aluminum heads, a Weiand dual plane intake, 650 brawler carb and a Howard's cam with .519 lift and 112 separation. I HAD to pull mine because the rear main was shot and I was losing a quart of oil every time I filled up from a pretty significant leak. Nice winter project

Took notes on the engine part. Got a recently acquired 1977 Thunderbird with the 351W in her and while she runs good, I know I can wake her up by removing the 70s vintage ford carb, egr restricted 2 barrel manifold and weak ignition and distributor.

evans coolant will definitely not pull more heat out of your engine

it will make it run hotter or in best case scenarios be around the same as normal coolant mix

Multi-port fuel injection has been around since mid 80’s not the 90’s. Had it in my first car that was an 86 Camaro.

351w is an amazing platform, it's what the ls was built on.

They really should have done an overhaul and new pistons to get the compression up.

What is sad about some of these car shows is it's more of a commercial do they get free stuff to sell the brand name but they're good at it whether it's this Cam that piston this bearing that rod brand names

I like the way it looks as is.. but lowering the truck with those ugly big wheels in the truck's almost touching the road.. despicable.. I guess my mind thinks old school looks better

Use that brakleen sparingly when cleaning down the head surface, you don't want to wash the cylinder walls down

Blue and white two tone would have been a cool option too.

Interesting and informative video on the Windsor. And I'm glad to see Jeremy is still on the team. Few things as bad as an unemployed gnome.
