We have a 2016 MQ Triton travelled 210, 000kms used in central New Zealand for farm, snow, mud, school taxi and rural delivery around mountain ranges. Its never let us down only had to replace drivers seat and upgrade bulbs and lightbar fitted to bullbar. Awesome truck for the money. Drove the Ranger noisy and no head room behind the drivers seat for back passengers. Really wanted the Ranger being a Ford fan but brought the Triton and an FGX Falcon with the change.

My first ute was a Isuzu, did 347 000km then I sold it, did not have any problems with it and it and did not have one breakdown. Then I bough a ranger, gearbox and turbo went on just over 30 000km. Sold the ranger, despite it being a lovely vehicle to drive, I need a vehicle that is reliable. Then I bought a Hilux and drove it for 5 years, but sold it due to its poor handling on gravel roads, I travel a lot on gravel roads. Then a few months ago I bought a new Isuzu and still to this day drive it and I must say, very impressed with the new Isuzu, I need a vehicle that is reliable and a true work horse. For my specific needs, someone who do a lot of long distance travel and also need a vehicle for the farm, the Isuzu meet all my requirements.

My Ranger is going on 5 years now and It has never let me down. Best by far of the 15 new vehicles I have owned. Will buy a Ranger Rapter in the new year

I got myself a T60 when it first came out in 2017. Grea Ute for the money. The only issues I’ve had have been cosmetic and honestly for the price you pay it’s got everything you’ll need.

I researched and prepared my spreadsheet of specs. I test drove all the major models and my shortlist was Triton (value for money, high spec level and warranty), BT-50 (big lazy 3.2l, simple interior layout and value for money) and Ranger (big lazy 3.2l, latest tech/safety and nicest to drive). I ended up with a Ranger Wildtrak.

Fair test - interesting how 4wd tradie Utes are judged on tech and infotainment-personally more interested in load carrying- towing and off-road capability

Owned an LDV T60 lux auto now for 12 months now and have found it to be a really honest ute. Could use a little more power, nothing a chip wouldn't fix but has done everything I've asked of it.

Owned my ford ranger 2.2 hi rider rear wheel drive from late Dec 2011 and the only thing that went wrong now is the front drivers headlight globe. Man what a incredible machine. Thank CHRIST I bought it, best decision ever ;)

The Ford is good but the dealers are not (personal opinion).

Bought an LDV not gonna lie was worried about it at it first, but never been more happy with the choice, Cheap, Reliable, Easily the best interior out of the Group, Only lacks power but if your not using it for towing that often then its the perfect ute for someone who wants to save a bit on money and still get a quality ute

I saw one of those SsangYong going past with loads of dirt and mud on it. Looks like a fun one to trash or thrash around. Seems tougher than what I thought.

blank.

THE REASON why the Ranger isn’t the #1 seller is because it’s a Ford. Many people don’t want to walk into Ford dealerships due to the crap service and ownership experience.

MR Triton GLS Premium everyday off the week, thats why i just bought one myself... Price, 7 yrs Warranty, Great Motor & Gearbox, Super Select ii, rear diff lock, heated leather seats, led headlights, rear aircon, too hard to go past at that price. Drive away $48k.

Funny enough test driving the Ranger I prefer the 3.2 5cyl with the 6 speed gearbox. Just feels and sounds so much better than the 2l

Finally an honest review for the Nav. Not everyone uses them to carry a tonne in the tub all the time

Thank you for saying that the D-Max is one of the best ute's for 4x4 off road use and towing, having had 3 D-max's and the latest a 2019 model all i can say to anyone that looks past the bell and whistle's's that would brake in the hard bush in a new ute, give the D-max a test drive and see for yourself also i didn't trade in the other ute's my son's drive them and one has over 400, 000km's and has never needed a repair other than timing chain and belt's, to all a Merry Christmas.
