For a 1080p monitor, this console is just perfect. I've had mine for a year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing that sucks is the limited storage space and overpriced external hard drives for this thing. They should really work toward getting more manufacturers involved to make storage solutions for this thing at better prices.

I have a Series X for me, my 10 year old son has a Series S and so does my daughter. I grabbed her one last Christmas for $200 with a Target deal. Having Gamepass has been a huge help for me as my kids can download so many games to try and play. We like to do alot of stuff and be out and about but when we have a chill day in the AC we can party up and have alot of fun together. The Series S is just awesome

Being a parent myself I totally agree. I just picked up the Series S 1tb and it brought that love back to gaming with the simple point of being able to save a game, put my kids down and start right off where I left in a second or 2. That and every gaming dad needs to be able to take it (easily) somewhere else when the kiddos take over the living room

As someone who doesn't particularly care about hardware specs, I quite like my Xbox Series S, and bristle when others deride it. It plays video games, and loads them faster than the Xbox One S did. That's really all I need. Video game graphics have been SPECTACULAR since the Xbox 360, and 1080p is more than good enough for me. Keep in mind that I grew up with the Atari 2600 and NES... in comparison to those, the budget priced Xbox Series S is a juggernaut.

I literally bought series s last month by your advice yes the machine is so good, i've been playing phantom liberty and motorsport, both on quality mode on my 32 inches monitor and man the graphics still hold up very, very well. Maybe not so good in 60fps modes but 30 fps and native 1440p is all i want.

Well done xbox!

Lol, I remember when my son was six months old and he would lay on my chest. Now he's hyper as hell. Enjoy it while you can lol.

One thing I can say after owning it for 3 years now: very great machine for being the smallest console ever, VERY portable, Great low budget price, and if you have pair this console with a nice looking 1440p gaming monitor in your setup, you pretty much have your own ultimate gaming setup which i have and I absolutely love it! I got the 2TB Seagate expansion SSD as well and it’s amazing!

Amazing how Microsoft created a console specific for dads on a budget 😂😂 my story is the same as yours. Series s put me back on gaming. I dont need pathtracing at 120fps, i just need to have a good time after a long day of work and kids👌🏾

Xbox Series S with Gamepass got me back into gaming after a long break too. I got it shortly after the latest console generation launched, and even though I have a PS5 now, I probably find myself playing my Series S the most still because the PS5 is huge and has to live in my office. I love the form factor, the fact I can play Xbox games from all generations, and the way it fits so nicely in my home entertainment system. My girlfriend and I have found so many couch co-op and multiplayer games to enjoy together too that’s honestly elevated it to another level for me! It Takes Two is a game we’ve played through twice beginning to end. And Diablo 3, Overcooked and Lego Star Wars have all been awesome as well. And when she’s in bed or out somewhere, I just fire up Halo at the drop of a hat with quick resume, and I feel like I did playing Halo 3 as a kid all over again! Honestly, can’t recommend this system enough

I have a Series X in my game room upstairs and picked up a Series S for the downstairs TV so I could play closer to the family and pups when we all have down time. I probably spend more time on the S than X because of that, and while I can see the differences in power, for $299 it's such a good deal for casual gaming. I think the people that get overly dramatic about it being underpowered aren't quite in touch with what most casual gamers (or those with family lives) are looking for.

Can’t believe the console is three years old. Time did go by really fast

They really need to discontinue the white series S or at least heavily discount it. The 512gb storage is just too little. The carbon black version is where its at with the 1TB storage.

Crazy. I’m 10 months sober laying next to my 1 week old daughter as I type this at 23 and was FEINING for a new hobby and looked up if this console was worth it for trying to get ‘next gen’ gameplay without spending a ton and you just randomly brought up your child and made me completely set on buying one!

Being someone who has yet to upgrade to 4k. This console is perfect for me! The games look much better than on my OG xb1, and run better. Perfect for if you want to play the newer games but don’t care as much about the 4k visuals! Extremely portable too, this thing is small as hell and makes barely any noise!

I have a Gaming PC with a Ryzen 5 5500 and RTX 2060 super, not a high-end rig but certainly no slouch either. However, I recently got a series S and I play most of the time on it now. I work a full-time IT job and got married earlier this year and gaming was pretty much nonexistent. Not even so much for lack of time but with working at a desk all day and constantly troubleshooting tech it isn't something I enjoy doing in my free time anymore and gaming on PC requires more effort than I am willing to put in after all my responsibilities are taken care of. But I just hold the little button in the middle of my controller and click on the game I want and I'm playing. Games load fast and I can play a few matches while I am waiting for the laundry to need rotated or dinner to be done in the oven. It seriously is a quality, cheap, and simple gaming box. Not hoping to have kids any time soon but when I do, I can't imagine playing on anything else.

Modern electronics don't actually turn off. Its been this way for at least a decade. They still draw power they just shut off the signal to your display so you think its off.

This is super inspiring because it feels like when you become a parent, you stop doing what you love. Like you lose a part of you. I commend dads like you. You made it work for you and didn't accept that fun wasn't over for you. I might get one of these down the line or an X because of the physical games i still have

Cant agree more, though in my country there was a crazy price bump for the series S as of recently that almost makes thr XSX the more enticing proposition, since the prices are ever so close. Up until then I could reccomend the XSS with my eyes closed to anyone looking into building a digital library spanning over 20 years of games with good upscaling (if you use a 1080p display), framerates and wide compatibility with peripherals/IO. Plus, if you're the tinkerer type, you can extensively mod skyrim, fallout 4 and soon starfield, plus install homebrews. Its a very compelling device.
