The series x is a simply better console in terms of actual performance and technical level. But considering the series s is 200 dollars cheaper and readily available unlike the series x makes it a better choice for most people. You still get all the selling points of series x but a bit less powerful by around 30-40 percent, for 200 dollars less. I own an x and my friend owns an s and we both share this opinion

We have both. My son has the Series S and I have the Series X. The S is perfect for him because he doesn't care one bit what the games look like and he has no idea what Ray Tracing and all that is. He just wants to play. I, on the other hand lol...I want the best of the best and I am a graphics guy. So, the X fits me perfectly. He and I can share games and game together. So, we're good.

Started looking into getting a Series S recently since my Xbox One finally crapped out on me :( Had that baby since launch! I just had it in my bedroom to watch CR/Netflix/etc and occaisional offline gaming, since I mainly game on my PS5/PC/Switch in my office. Appreciate the detailed comparisons and straight to the point content for your average consumer like myself. With the price drop of the Series S to $249, I'm pretty sure I'll be picking one up to finally replace my Xbox One.

I had a series S since a little after launch, but I like the X WAY BETTER, I don’t like the all digital BS but couldn’t find an X forever, I just keep the S in my spare bedroom now

Thank you for telling us the storage but how much of that is actually usable! That was/is much appreciated!

It's a good comparison and informative review. I also had the Series S since launch and just upgraded to a Series X. Even on a 1080p monitor the X is a much better experience but the S is a charming and capable system.

After playing with the Series S for a year and trying the Series X I can never go back I never realized how blurry the Series S was until I played with the Series X

I don't mind the lack storage of the Series S because I only play one game at a time but the lack of disks made me constantly switch back to my Xbox One X for my collection of Xbox One games and back to my Series S for newer games I already had a PS5 Disk so I held off getting a Series X until now and I must say the difference is huge it's totally worth the money but if you were like me the PS5 Disk and the Series S is a killer combo

I have both of them. I decided to upgrade my Xbox Series S to a Series X because the performance, especially in COD: Cold War and Vanguard is pretty bad. When I tried 120 FPS in COD: Vanguard, the game was pretty unplayable. On 1080p60, Xbox Series S is amazing, but the blurred graphics and the poor performance in AAA games it's not something that I can overcome. If you don't mind average to good graphics, go for Xbox Series S, it's a no brainer at $399. But I would never go back to it after I bought the Series X, it's a massive difference. I gave my Series S to my sister and it's more that enough for her.

The size factor is pretty interesting. I have owned the PS5 and Series X for over a year now and I really enjoy them both equally. I got a really good deal on a Series S recently, and I’m really happy with it. Might seem excessive but I go over my friends house all the time and the Series S is just so easy to move around. I also do not have game pass but having xbox’s since the 360 has given me a decent digital catalogue so it’s great to have regardless. It’s also been nice having them setup in different rooms, makes it easier to game wherever whenever.

At first when series x is hard to get, I bought the series s. It's really great.
Later when I got my hands on the series x, it didn't excite me as much as series s did.
In the end I kept series x because I have a 85 inch TV. If I only game on a monitor I would def kept series s.

Mainly a PC guy, so wasn't even going to grab an Xbox now that everything comes to PC gamepass.
Got a series s as a gift from work, and now it's my traveling companion being a do a lot of traveling for work.

About to go in on a Series X now that I'm playing more with my console friends.

Honestly with FSR 2.0 the future for the Series S looks very bright. Also value for money is fantastic. I don't care about having the best graphics. The quality of the game is more important, and XBSS delivers. They will optimize for both and with UE5 with FSR 2.0 we can expect improved fidelity and performance as the cycle goes on.

The Xbox Series S is an amazing console! I have one and it runs stable 120 fps even on big games. It is also good for people without a lot of desk space. I sit mine upright next to my monitor and it fits well. The storage is okay, but it could be better. Luckily, they have storage expansions. Now for some cons. If you are a content creator you’ll need a storage expansion because the max recording time is 3 minutes without extra storage.

I have a ps5 and bought the series s today. Been having a blast with the backwards compatibility

The biggest difference between them for me is how on the Series S you can only choose either performance or quality in games. You can’t have both.

But on the Series X, you can have both great performance and great quality.

For example: the new generation GTA, you can choose three different graphic options:
-Performance
-Fidelity (quality)
-RT and Performance

On the Series S you can only choose performance or fidelity. No RT (ray tracing).
On the Series X, you can.

And that’s a big deal for me personally.

On Red Dead Redemption II, the difference is unbelievable. Truly indescribable.

Just ordered a series x today from Best Buy. Plan on selling off my series s to put it towards some new games for the x. I just missed being able to play physical games too much

Thanks for the in depth preview man. I knew the 'spec differences' but been wondering which to get. Since I have a PC already, I think Series S is looking very good!

Ever since I got into the Xbox One S Ecosystem in 2017, I went full-blown Digital and even had the drive. I only had one game gifted to me as a physical disk and I played it from 2017 to 2022. I have watched countless videos and knew about the storage issues. So luckily my girlfriend gave me a 5TB External and brought the Seagate Expansion Card off of Facebook Marketplace for $150 plus express shipping which totaled $180. The Series S is amazing, small and adorable. My girlfriend wanted the Kinect Setup and I had the adapter as well. So I parted ways with the xbox one since the benefits of the Series S were greater then the One S. So I am remaining fully Digital and Gamepass is a treat. As for my PS5, I had physical and digital games and scored a disk edition via Sony invite. Both systems are amazing for what they are.

There are a few things I am missing about from the Series X, but my smart TV is 60hz and is 4k.

The Portability factor is great as well and seeing Forza Horizon 5 is a breath of fresh air. Both seem great and I don't feel compelled to upgrade to a Series X unless my TV is upgraded to the max and technology evolves too rapidly.
