I saw this video in July and my husband and I started studying in August. Tonight he passed the Technician and General exams and I passed the Technician. Thank you for putting up this video as we would never have done gotten into Ham radio without it. I also got my GMRS license and HT GMRS radios for rest of my family. We really appreciate both of you!

Thanks so much Josh and Fieldcraft Survival. I watched one of these videos last night and immediately purchased my first radio (a BaoFeng BF-F8HP). I will be listening immediately and soon be receiving my license.

I am taking my Tech and General Operator tests on Monday after taking a class through the local extension. I would encourage anyone interested to get in touch with your local HAM Club to find classes and events - it's amazing what you can pick up from guys who have been HAMs for most of their lives.

You make me feel more psychologically safe..u r very knowledgable and when they said contagion ....I realized that your home is the people in the grocery store....so having a radio for communications is probably important :)

This is the video that started it for me. I was looking to get a shortwave receiver—because I missed the one I had twenty years before, but lost. Youtube suggested this video in my search in early August of 2020.

Later that day, I learned the current solar cycle had all but killed shortwave listening. I watched the video again, and by late September had my first HT, and my Technician’s license.

Thanks, Fieldcraft and Josh. This is so much more fun than I imagined.

Thanks for posting this and the podcast. I'm pretty technical but coms are almost like another language that I never understood. This made it a little less confusing.

I noticed you didn’t mention GMRS radios which also do FRS frequencies in addition to high power frequencies. They can reach up to around 20 miles line of sight. This is probably a good option for many people. I applied for a license and received it within 24 hours with my call sign. So now I can transmit up to about 20 miles with my $85 radios from Walmart. License fee was $70 for 10 years. No studying or test to pass.

I’ve learned so much from this channel. Probably the most useful channel I’ve seen! 🇺🇸

Like a lot communication and I have CB, Ham radios like Baofeng (6 of them) but my use and understanding is very slim. Keep trying and looking for seminars but here in Puerto Rico isn't a big practice. Anyway, I like your videos. Thanks for sharing.

I have had that GoalZero solar panel and I returned it to Costco because it wasn’t enough power to even charge my cell phone. Everyone make sure you test these things out properly with everything you might need them for, and not just wait for an emergency and rely on it to work.
