Very nice. Similar to what I use for sound effects recording without the wireless stuff. The MixPre II auto record to USB is nice to avoid having to pull the SD card. Or just a quick USB-C cable to quickly download content from the device. I power my MixPre 6 II with a USB-C anker battery with AA backup sled on the back. 32bit float is amazing for recording sound effects!

Thanks for taking the time to show us your kit. I have a Hawkwoods power adapter (to take Sony L-mount batteries) it also covers the SD card, and worse, sticks out 1 cm in the vertical direction (in the direction of a mounted camera for example) Will it fit in the K Tak bag ? I hope so.

I've been doing freelance location sound for a year before the Covid19. I have a military waist bag for the Mixpre 6 version 1, I run mke 600 for input 1, and own 2 g4. I use an Anker Battery bank to boot up the device.

I should've listened when you said don't buy a Tascam. I returned it and ordered the Mixpre-6ii and the same K-tek bag. I am planning to use the Sony L battery tray and two large Sony batteries. Do you think it will fit nice and work out? Or should I look at a different/bigger bag?

Very nice demo! I was actually considering getting this bag before I got my Zoom F8. Once I invested and spent my money on the F8, Sound Devices released the Mix Pre 10. Still, I don't regret getting my F8, and on a good note, I can always play with a Mix Pre recorder. Thanks for posting this, I can wait to see your next one!

Great work man I totally agree with you with where the SD slot is I don’t like it at all I’ve actually damaged my slot port because of that. I was looking to do a video on how I actually do time code myself with the tentacle sync e and how I set up my bag

Thanks for the video ^^
I would have liked K tek to add small pockets inside the oval part (to slip small accessories).
Concerning the MixPre6, there is also the small concern of the "volume wheel" of the headphones. It's a bit improved in version II, but it still not easily accessible when the MixPre is in the bag.
There are Knobs that sell online (usually thanks to the 3D printer), but you just have to be careful not to drop the mixer on the side of the added Knob.

Yo, big fan of your content and, as an aspiring sound mixer, your videos have been helping me make my first kit. I have a personal question when it comes to Sennheiser and Schoeps. I've used both brands and love them equally. But, do you find anything that is an advantage or a disadvantage when using either brand for location sound?

I definitely did not get an extra piece of orange fabric w/ velcro with my MixPro bag. Did you take it from another ktek bag your have? Also I wanted to ask if you know of anyone selling or making an extension knob so my fat fingers don't have to fumble around for the gain knob?

I think I have number-microphone synesthesia, hearing you say you would put the boom on 3 or 4 instead of 1 was painful lol

Hello... How to configure the mix-pre to save the files separately to the SD?

Mixpre6 user here. How do you find the cabletechniques powersled? Is the connector itself made out of plastic or metal? The SD/Hawkwoords are plastic and break over time.

I am using an old Petrol bag (same as Sachtler 607 but different colorscheme) which is a good fit (and allows for the L-Batteries) and can also hold quite some items if needed, but I ordered a lightweight cheap deputy bag that I hope to customize. That K-Tek bag looks good and lightweight, altho - how do you access the HP encoder with the bag secured on the right hand side?

Since there is no routing matrix in the Mixpre, I keep 1-2 inputs free if possible for boomtrack (s).

Since this is a OMB sort of setup you got going on here. It would be interesting to see a video on cable management to the boom unless you go wireless there too (and in that case how you distribute the weight with the transmitter).

Edit: I see that you use the same petrolbag in your old setup ^^
