In this video, I did not show a sound test. The reason for this is because listening to a recording of the audio would not showcase the actual sound you'd hear in person. It goes through 2 different variables (me recording it + whatever you're listening through). So I don't think it gives the soundbar fair justice recording it. That'd be equivalent to me telling you to smell the food I'm eating through video.

I have this set up, and I’m going to say be careful what you ask for. This is one of the best purchases I have made. Oh you said you want theater sound, Amazing sound. Worth every dollar.

The new 5.1 bass goes only 5 steps. I'll take the old one over the new one. New is not always better, especially when company's try doing more with less

Great video. I was thinking between these ones and the JBL 310 Partybox. i listened to both at the store. Despite the 310's being louder, this had clearly more distinctive sound.. It's much more crystal clear, precise, and crisp if you know what I mean. And this is despite it missing it's mid-range. So really glad to have bought these. Another good thing about buying a set of "TV speakers" instead of real music speakers (since these are obviously movie speakers) is that they are very elegant. And not that much "in your face". And about the detachable units, just like yourself since I'll be using them for listening to music 95%, I couldnt care less if they detach. I'm going to put they on top of my piano instead of the front of the tv when they arrive tomorrow.

So as you mentioned in your video. JBL also offers a 5.1 soundbar that does not have the detachable surround speakers. I believe that one came out in 2019. It offers "virtual surround sound". I think the one you feature in this video is better then that other JBL 5.1 soundbar with virtual surround sound. The one you reviewed is more in line with the direction JBL is headed again in 2020 as the new JBL 9.1 goes back to the detachable surround speakers again. So anyone wanting to get in on the best wireless surround sound with as close to wired surround sound as your going to get should choose the one you feature in this video as it would appear JBL.is going back to this design in 2020

I easily get 8-10 hours on the charge for detachable speakers. Was yours defective? This soundbar is one of the best ones out right now. It’s the bomb.

just got this sucker yesterday. got a great deal on it. 372 with tax and free ground shipping off the JBL website during Prime Day. So far so good. I have to grab a couple articulating wall mounts for the surrounds. Easy setup if you have a HDMI ARC on your TV

The extra 40watts of power in the none detachable surround speakers version is for the 2 front virtual surround speakers includes in the sound bar they are both 20watts each and the fire upward to bounce off of the ceiling and down towards the rear of where your sitting. The sub woofer is the exact same sub woofer that comes with the JBL 5.1 with the detachable rear surround speakers. I have been getting about 9-10 hours out of the detachable speakers but I also have them plugged constantly changing with a USB cable as well, September from the soundbar itself.

What's the difference between the old JBL 5.1 with 2 removable speakers vs the new 5.1-9.1 that has the same set-up?
Difference apart from the Atmos and DTS-X compatibility.

This soundbar is so hard to resist.. Its so good check ☑ every box when it comes to sound.. But then too bad other jbl soundbar tend to come short even the new version 9.1..
