I've never tested the 9.1. but I do own this 5.1 and I love it. Sound and bass are great allot better than many other 5.1 on the market including the other jbl5.1

5.1 bar's sound was set between 20/21 whereas 9.1 bar's sound was set to 17.
I think 9.1 is provides louder, wider, more detail, cleaner, more open sound than that of 5.1. But 5.1 has very good bass compared to other bars considering its output watts & price. 9.1 also has good bass.
For bass lover, 5.1 will be better also as a budget friendly option. For more balanced, surrounding & detail sound, 9.1 will be better

5.1 more clarity and 9.1 more 3d sound it depends what youre looking for..
both of them bass are good.. well 5.1 more punchy and 9.1 more deeper

5.1 for music
9.1 for cinema

I say the 5.1 rocks! The base test using the frequency analyzer was pretty convincing! Also the clarity of the other in the sample!! Unreal for the price difference compared to the 9.1.

If you have more money, get the 9.1. If you have less, get the 5.1. That simple.

i think the bass should be kept 100% on both systems on deep bass test because there is a significant change in bass in jbl bar 9.1 when we change the bass from 4 to 5 but in jbl bar 5.1 there is only a minor change after bass level of 20

just upgraded to 9.1 from 5.1.... personally i feel it is worth upgrading. The difference is 5.1 has deeper bass. 9.1 has balance sound and dialogue clarity is better in 9.1 and Dolby Atmos is just awesome. For deep bass lover, 9.1 may not be worth it.

Jbl 5.1 deep bass set is tuned to select the lower bands near resonant one in hapf power bandwidth and its stability in frequency response graph is great(so it does not break over increase in frequency)where as 9.1 is an entertainment(mainly for cinema watching, soft music listening etc), its just a clarity with superb classic looking model.its not set as deep bass module.so not to be confused as everyone has some distinct features whenever we see an ensemble microscopically.so have a good day.wish i can buy one of these in later days.

5.1 is deep bass module to select mainly the low frequency in the given half power band frequencies and it is tuned in such a way that it can select the lower bands of frequencies below resonant one.so overalĺ low frequency response is great(gain vs frequency plot)is great towards low frequency band in half power range and its so stable wrt increase in frequency or nearly approximates the saturation in some cases though i can see from your intensity graph wrt frequency.

Do Not Buy JBL Soundbars with detachable surround speakers if your don't want to spend atleast 4.5k INR to replace battery on single speaker.
I am a Bar 5.1 owner since 2019. The main problem of the surround speakers is the battery. Over the period of 2-2.5 years, the battery stops giving backup.
To REPLACE the battery, the service/visiting charge is INR 1200/- and the battery will cost you around INR 3000/- and it doesn't come with any warranty.
So, if you are okay to spend around INR 8500 every 3 years to replace the batteries, go for it.

Hi, maybe you tried the JBL 800? Which is better and stronger for bass/subwoofer jbl 800 or jbl 9.1?

Jbl 5.1 vs samsung hw-q800b. Which one do you thinks has better bass, audio clarity?

Is Dolby Atmos really that much more important for movies and music that you would go for the 9.1 over the 5.1?

I don't understand why everyone is so excited about this soundbar!

I have two sets: a full 5.1 home theater q-acoustics and a first generation jbl 5.1.
Both systems are connected through an optical interface

So when I listen to the soundbar, it seems to me that it has absolutely no midrange frequencies.
The sound detail and listening pleasure suffer a lot because of this.

Honestly I don’t know how JBL can screw things up like this . Why do they keep discontinuing great sound bars ? The new 5.1 and 2.1 suck . They decided to remove all the presets, bass level adjustments and HDMI inputs . Like what’s actually going on ? My cousin bought the new 5.1 because he was blown away by how my 3.1 sounds only to be disappointed 😔
