Q. When looking at the price of say 20m of flurocarbon hook links is there any difference to buying say 100m of flurocarbon line of the same strength and using that? It seems to me it's the same stuff just many times the price per m when called hook link.

Unscented petroleum jelly is as good as any other product for protecting your hook whilst in the water. Use sparingly though.
