AirTag Exposes DHL Fraud (no joke)

Earlier this year, I shipped several AirTags across the world. While my AirTags to Tim Cook and Elon Musk made it, the other two bound for North Korea didn’t. In this video, I’ll finally be sharing why that is, and will talk about how this lead to me uncovering some dirty business practices from DHL. It’s so bad, that I truly am convinced DHL are committing fraud.

Apple never realised that the most popular use for the AirTags would be testing the integrity of courier service companies.

DHL lost a shipment of robots from my companies' assembly department to a customer across the border....worth $550, 000. They said they lost it and wanted to pay us back $10, 000 based on our insurance coverage for the package. We threatened to sue, 3 days later the packages were magically found at the logistics center in Toronto. Woops.

Having worked for DHL, I'd recommend you grab your package and walk to your destination instead of trusting DHL.

The airtag in Beijing is probably sitting abandoned after the package was opened. You should hide an airtag inside something useful so if the package gets opened/stolen or sold then you see it leave the DHL depot to another company or house.

This has became so much bigger than just AirTag's now. lol

I used to work as a shipping clerk, and after one too many "lost parcels", our company canceled their contract with them. The joke is that DHL stands for "Day and a Half Late".

Step 1: Send some junk to NK
Step 2: You parcel gets "lost"
Step 3: Say it's worth 100€ and request a Refund
Step 4: Profit

Them lying to their customers is Fraud! Like you said, getting a refund doesn't always matter when the sentimental value of the item is far greater. Make this video go viral so that they have to react!

A friend of mine was once a truck driver for DHL. The drivers called the company; "Drop it Hide it Lose it".

Apple: We’re creating AirTags to help you find any of your lost items!

MegaLag: We’re gonna use them to tear down DHL.

Cool investigation Bro. You asked what will happen to those packages in the end… DHL will probably auction them off. People buy them at auction and then call the original recipient and try resell it to them, this is what happened to me anyway.

I deal with DHL daily as a small business, the amount of time they loose or just return packages is shocking. Always the same excuses given. I very nearly had to shut down because DHL were claiming items were delivered but my clients never received the goods, this lead to a fraud claim that almost cost me my livelihood.

So what I gathered out of this is, if you're having a hard time selling something, just use DHL and ship it to North Korea. When the inevitable happens and your package is "lost", request your refund for the item value. #BigBrainMove

To my knowledge, packages that no one claims in China are usually openly auctioned/sold to people, either on the street by deliverers or online. This is a way to get rid of abundant stocks of non-claimed packages and make a little profit. people also get interesting stuff by paying very little amounts, since you can't tell the things inside from the package, usually they range from 10 RMB to 50rmb depending on the size. I personally never bought one because I live abroad, but I would very much like to try it when I return back to China one day.

I always have problem with DHL when I order something online or when my employer sends something to me. If it's lightweight, it's always marked that I wasn't at home (even though I'm at home all day). But when I order something heavy, like 60kg of cat's litter or something from abroad, it magically can be delivered on time. It's so frustrating that I can receive package from abroad faster than from my own country because of that

2:50 As one of a common South Korean man, it's just hilarious reading those comments saying "ship to SK in order to drive across the border to NK". Fellow foreigner friends, it is just IMPOSSIBLE. It's not like crossing fences and walls from Mexico to US. Armed forces are facing each other with rifles and cannonballs. I was part of them too.

It’s sad that they were able to do these kinds of things before with no repercussions. Thank you for discovering their issues and informing us. 👍

I stumbled on your last video on the airtags and dhl which led me to this video... I have nothing but horror stories with DHL. I will not use them anymore because of how bad they are.

On MULTIPLE occasions I had packages sent to me and while I was working from home, sitting in the front room where I could see outside, and with two dogs that bark at any movement within 3 houses either side of us. None of the packages ever showed up by the time they said they would and the website tracker would suddenly update saying "Attempted Delivery, no response. Tag left on door, will retry"

Each time I would look and no note on the door or anywhere around the front of the house. Dogs never barked, and when I checked the security cameras that look all the way down the street (I live in the house at the dead end of a culdasac).I couldnt find a single frame of a DHL truck on our street for the whole day.

When I called DHLs local center they were always rude and dismissive and claimed that the driver attempted delivery and I wasnt home. I would have to wait another 2 days before I could come to the center to pick up my package. On the final call the manager even tried to call me a liar when I offered to show him the video showing their trucks never came down the road. The package was delivered the next day by another local carrier.

Since that last failure in a string of bad service I have refused to deal with them ever again and always opt for other delivery options when they are listed as a choice.

yes, this happens all the time. They all do it. When I worked at Fedex Call Center, I would call the depots (as an MOD), and multiple times, the reps would admit they'll just mark it lost and check the box for refund approval.

since most people do not insure the package for anything, it's less expensive to pay you $100 than to hire more employees.

IF you are sending something priceless/ unique/ heirloom, there is a service for those called White Glove Service, or Custom Critical. It's not cheap, but it's hand to hand transportation, logs, everything.
Need to move a killer whale? Customer critical.
A priceless artifact? Customer critical.
The bath water of that streamer you spent your nest egg on? Custom critical.

Their success rate is amazing.
every company has this type of group. if it's that important. Use them.

But DHL is total fraud.

To clear up the confusion on why packages arrive in Niederaula: There is a customs office there for inbound international parcels (one of a few). So most likely your parcel has been returned to Germany and is now sitting in the customs office or DHL facility there. Might be worth a shot to phone/contact the customs office if they have the package.
