I solved it as followed:
We take our ratio and multiply it by x so 2:6:8 becomes 2x:6x:8x. We know, that all our money must be divided within this ration, so we add 2x+6x+8x and evaluate it to 2400. Our next step is just to solve this equation:
2x+6x+8x=2400
16x=2400 | :16
x=150
After we found our x, we can solve and find each segment of ratio:
2x:6x:8x => (2*150):(6*150):(8*150) => 300:900:1200
