About Trailmakers:

In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.

Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!

Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.

Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.

Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.

Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

multiplayer game idea: play tag, using the king of the hill ;P
objective is to get the LOWEST score possible, and the "king" will try to pass the crown onto anyone else, and when the crown respawns, then whoever is the closest distance to it, has to pick it up (so you want to get away not only from king, but also the center)

Scrapman, take a look into thrust vectoring, you would essentially rotate your thrusters slightly for steering. That would result in constant steering power. Fins give you proportional steering, which increases with speed, you want both, but mostly constant

It would be interesting to see if the devs could filter all of the glich vehicles into the bionic league, just to see all of the legit attempts side by side.

There are two ways to go faster around a corner, the obvious one is to cut the corner.
This makes you drive less distance, but requires you to slow down.
The second way is to just drive faster, however this requires you to take a wider corner.

The ideal racing line is a balance of these, unfortunately Scrapman found out the hard way that tighter isn't always faster

How speedrunners pull of precise tricks: precise setups and execution
How scrapman does tricks: _vibes_

Doing some testing, four large propellers at 12 power cores allows for smaller aero profile than three large jets. The props went 1850kph vs the jets at 1570kph and at least felt like similar acceleration-I did not time it. Note that facing the props backwards allows for less framing. Cheers!

Edit: after timing it, jets take about 30% less time from 0 to sound barrier, so props are probably only better for races with long straights

I don't think you've revisited the race track. You actually have the right idea for jumping with the creation if you go to the race track though. I got 3rd place a month or two ago and the only way I could get to that point was jumping/ramping using pistons to jump over the fences to skip the dirt bank. Not sure if xbox shares pc leaderboards but the top 5 was mostly hinge glitches I think.

Scrapman putting crazy downforce on the front of the car at the beginning of the video and then wondering why it spun out pains me

10:04 Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.

19:59 it's probably because some of your momentum is transfered upwards as you jump over to take the "shortcut", making you lose speed horizontally.

Put the wheel on an extended piston stick that reaches over the barrier, pull it up to shortcut, and extend again to regain contact with the track. Should be stable and easy enough to get a good time with.

I really want to see ScrapMan build and optimize a fully autonomous self driving car for the new big race track, utilizing sensors to avoid the barriers and whatever else

PS: Day 8 of asking ScrapMan to play GearBlocks 🥺

I'd like to see you break down ufo glitch and how it helps glitch builds and how much . cuz I don't play, just a fan

I wonder if flipping the front bottom aero to push you up would help.. might minimize collisions with the bump in the turn

I would also love to see you try to improve on not all, but the first leaderboard race you did, and see how much you've improved

This seems like a perfect one for that drift car of yours, all suped up for insane speed of course.

Concept for you. Wheel on the right aka outside the turn makes for better turning. Thing of how much tighter an inside wheel needs to go to make the same movement. I’m short. Push your wheel 1 or 2 spaces towards outside for even tighter turns that are stable. Because the inside willl be tighter.
