Even if it was his own art, his videos don't talk about how "amazing" it is. It's all technical work that you can learn whether or not you like the piece.

Some people just can't stand being reminded of their own inadequacies.

Yeah the inking videos are actually super helpful for me, it has helped me just loosen up a bit in my own work.

Trying to make fun of someone for being confident in their skills is a pretty switched-off-brain thing to do imo
Doesn't matter who's drawing, it's really good art and we can learn from watching the process.

I don’t understand why people get so pissed when people love themselves, it’s honestly so distasteful. Like if it’s because they hate narcissists, there’s a very big, monumental, cavernous gray area between being not being happy with yourself and being a narcissist. Only other reason I can think of is they hate themselves or something, which I feel bad for and is a situation that should be handled with care, but that doesn’t give them an excuse to make others miserable because they have something they don’t. Am I crazy?? Stop hating people for being confident and self assured.

Damn I didn't know that, but I was always inspired to try out inking because of your channel. Thanks a ton Lydia, your inking and drawing skills are immaculate! <3333

I love the little touches, like of adding that skateboard to the back of the bike or how the smoke curves from the bike. There's a whole story even in a relatively quick drawing.

This is actually something *REALLY* important, I sometimes commit the mistake of switching my brain off when doing crosshatching because I think "it's just lines, that's a no brainier"

And nope, it isn't a no brainier, you have to take your time when doing it, not exactly "spend 10 seconds thinking how to put a line besides another" but you can't just hatch randomly, otherwise the shadows end up looking like bruises

It would be more surprising if you didn't jump onto the Lydia appreciation train when she sends you sooo much cool stuff!

I've been drawing for 2 years since i surrounded myself with really strong artists that caused me to pick up my dream again. I haven't seen them in a while because I've been isolating and primarily focusing on improving, but damn i love watching the beauty of human's limitless potential.

People making their art is so beautiful, I could watch it for hours

I'm gonna be completely honest. I'd love to watch all the unsped footage Lydia sends in for all the inktober pieces.

a lot of the details in the strokes she makes in the little details get lost in the shorts and I would love to observe a bit more.

Maybe you could put little text in the corner that said “artist: Lydia Roberts” just to clear up the confusion

I mean obviously she's amazing. But it shouldn't matter if it was your own art. You're teaching, we're here to learn, you should be pointing out what's done well. You should get to be proud of your own art.
(You say whose art it is every time though so idk how anyone misses that 😂)

Comments like that always forget that if someone is a professional artist it means they have spend hours up on hours perfecting a craft, it's not bad to say you are good at something when this is your job and passion.

I love watching these videos and just watching artists at work and seeing their creativity in action.

And you do name drop and credit the artist that does this inking (Lydia) so I don’t get how the any person including this one would think it’s you praising yourself.

Lydia’s art is very good and it inspires me to try and do my best when I’m inking my own pencil sketches. I basically watches one of these shorts everyday. Or at least multiple times a week.

Also I was wondering does Lydia do most of your inking and you do the penciling or do you only use Lydia’s art as learning examples?

that comment honestly sounds like a person who's frustrated that people have passions and like to show their skills.. Personally I saw a random short from you guys on my recommended like 2 weeks or so ago and Lydia's crazy linework with the dip pens got me to try one for the first time <3 it's kinda awkward to get used to holding it at certain angles and to see what kind of nibs I like or don't but it's really fun, so thank you guys and Lydia especially!!
